Nighttime Brightness
Hi all! I've been playing FS19, My brother has it so I've been deciding if I want it for myself. I've had an issue where the nighttime is so incredibly dark that you NEED to have the lights from the tractors on to be able to see anything! Most people are complaining that it's too bright! But mines as dark as a night with no moon which is really hard when you try to work through it. any help or fixes? Because I don't wanna buy the game if it can't be fixed

Well I've owned the game since launch and only have 63hours in it if that tells you anything. I had around 1500hours in fs17. FS19 is FUBAR and progress is at a snail's pace. As a fan of previous versions, I would not recommend this game.

Hi, I can totally relate. Ive posted that it is way to dark, especially between the hours of 4 to 530 am. Can't see squat! Thought mabey it was my settings, so I went through my video settings, one by one, to no avail. Others say its to light at night, I dont see that in my game, mabey at 1 am its sort of light enouth to do things. Perhaps it will be addressed in upcomming patches. On the other hand, It's not "game breaking" and wouldn't say not to buy because of the 3 hr window that sux. Keep on gaming and happy farming:))

I can see perhaps that the ground in 1st person may seem dark. The sky is quite bright. It's almost like twilight all the time at night. I wouldn't say it's too dark.

As far as being so incredibly dark that you NEED to have the lights from your tractor to see anything, well.... that's kind of the point isn't it? I would be more annoyed if it was too bright and made lights unnecessary TBH.

There is also an option to sleep through the night if you'd rather not work when it's dark.

Naw, missing the point .. it is toatally "way too dark"!! I just poped back to do a quck edit .. which may or may not mean anything. I restarted my game last week, finally bought the BGA .. again, and there is this bump on the road that really bugs me, so I used the terain editor to "smooth" it out .. all good .. saved. Now, when I came back into the game, I have NO clouds in the sky. What, did i like edit the sky or something .. there were clouds rolling across before (even on a sunny day) but, now there gone. I just thought I'd mention that point because it seems to be connected (in my point of view) .. happy farming :))

I always use the personal flashlight/torch when on foot at night. It seems useful that my farmer always has a flashlight available and the batteries are never going flat! :steamhappy:

It is nighttime, so of course you need lights on to see the ground. And as the saying goes, it is darkest right before the dawn.

I've had nights where at 21:00 it's pitch black and even vehicle lights barely made a difference. Other nights 21:00 was light enough to see from one edge of a field to the other (hills permitting). Same at midnight and 0500.

Dark at night time. Horrible! 😀

It is meant to be dark at night time, dark enough you need lights to see what you're doing.

For me, it's pitch black at the late evening (ca 20:30 - 22:00) and early morning (ca 04:30-06:00). At midnight, everything is very well visible, just like having very cloudy daytime.

I don't mind it.
Also, there are 2x mods i use:
* official mod: light tower (Main Menu -> Mods) to illuminate my farm at the nighttime
* towable floodlight to illuminate a field during night-time harvest,

That trailer can't be operated when standing alone. Bad little bit.

So dark during nighttime that you need lights -> good

every single light only working as a small, solid cone -> bad

Edit data\map\map*_environment.xml "keyLuminance" values (default .13) from:
<autoExposure> <key keyLuminance="0.13" minExposure="-2.5" maxExposure="2.3" time="0*60" /> <key keyLuminance="0.13" minExposure="-2.5" maxExposure="2.3" time="24*60" /> </autoExposure>

To:
<autoExposure> <key keyLuminance="0.2" minExposure="-2.5" maxExposure="2.3" time="0*60" /><!-- can probably delete this line since 19.5 time values should stay active until sunrise --> <key keyLuminance="0.13" minExposure="-2.5" maxExposure="2.3" time="6.5*60" /> <!-- sunrise 6 --> <key keyLuminance="0.2" minExposure="-2.5" maxExposure="2.3" time="19.5*60" /> <!-- sunset 20 --> <key keyLuminance="0.2" minExposure="-2.5" maxExposure="2.3" time="24*60" /><!-- can probably delete this line since 19.5 time values should stay active until sunrise --> </autoExposure>

Tweak "keyLuminance" as desired, enable development controls in C:\Users\<user>\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2019\game.xml, and use the command "gsReloadEnvironment" to see changes to map*_environment.xml immediately without quitting/reloading. "gsSetDayTime" between 20 and 6 to be sure you're in the timeframe of when the "autoExposure" change happens.
