How to obtain "birdeye view"
as the title says, say when standing outside of a vehicle is there a way to zoom out to get a "birdseye view" of an area?

I usually go into landscaping mode for this. and if you hold shift down you can zoom around the map to check somthing out somone wants you to see.

Coincidentally a mod just came out today in the in-game ModHub called PlayerActionCamera, that will give you a birdseye view without having to use the fly no hud console command. Like most I am a big fan of using the NoHud and flight and use it every single time I play though..

but for for those who use this new PlayerActionCamera mod, and think rolling your mouse wheel is too slow to change player height, it is only set at .25 by default. You can open the lua file in this mod and look for the line that reads:

PlayerActionCamera.PLAYER_CAM_Y_STEP = .25

..and change the .25 to something higher to speed up transition. I changed mine to 5.25 and with a few flicks of the mouse-wheel can get nice and high while on foot in about 1 second. If that's too much, use a lower number of course. Be sure and read the description of the mod as well. Hold right-mouse button while scrolling to change the zoom level. If you are moving and do this, it will flip your screen upside down and do some wonky things... Don't freak out, simply click you middle-mouse button to reset the view...

Good stuff...
