Sugarcane as chaff?
My farm is dang big and the amount of sowing I'm doing is getting way, way too much. Trying to get a little more effiicient and having sugarcane as a chaff crop seems like a simple solution for my silage/TMR needs.

Any reason why I shouldn't go that way before I plant a massive field? (Plowing is off, too much to do...)

As far as i know, you can't use sugarcane to make sileage. For sileage, you'll need grass or chaff. To get chaff, for best yield harvest corn with forage harvester.

In Ravenport map, i harvested corn on field 8 with forage harvester and got a bit more than 2.000.000L of chaff out of it.

I thought I could cut sugarcane into chaff like I can with almost any crop? And chaff goes into silage (eg: like we can with corn.)

I mean if not well I'll put corn in instead but I was hoping to drop one lot of major sowing.

Thx mate.

For chaff, you can harvest: wheat, barley, canola or corn. But like said above, corn gives best yeild. If you try harvest sugarcane with forage harvester, nothing happens.

Oh, with corn, you can harvest it with forage harvester when it's in 3rd growth stage (the one just before crop is ready to harvest). Thus shortening the full cycle.

Thanks for taking the time to answer Aesyle. Saved me a small fortune :)

You're welcome. ;)

Since i'm currently riding my horses in the game (daily 100%), to pass time, i'll help around in Steam discussions.

You can but you have to modify the files for that so multiplayer wouldn't be a thing then
