Pig farming - Get 100% efficiency without beets/potatoes
So I found this little exploit while managing my pigs. Since I don't yet have the tools to produce potatoes/beets my pigs always had 95% efficiency. However, I found out that if you fill up the other crop types to max in the pig sty and then pick up the excess feed that the pigs generate (on the outer side of the food troughs) and just pour it back in, 100% of that feed becomes potatoes/beets.

With a sty fitting 100 pigs I can slowly create a surplus of potatoes/beets as their feed, consistently giving me 100% efficiency without being able to produce those crops myself.

Thought I'd share :steamhappy:

Thanks for the warning, will be sure not to put the food back in if it is full.

I am not sure if there is a mistake on your part or mine, but food excess that gets dumped near feedthrough is the same as "pig food" from the shop, that is all crops are in proportion. Collecting it from the ground and putting back in hte feedthrough will give you very small percent of beetroots/potatoes to what you have collected as excess. I dont have access to potatoes yet, and and collecting spillovers and dumping back never gives enough of those to keep 100% productivity long enough.

In other words, it is not in any meaningful way a substitute to growing and feeding potatoes to pigs.

There could be some type of sweet spot of where too many/too few pigs does not give you enough to sustain 100% efficiency, but with around 90-100 pigs I get a surplus of potatoes/beets that way. It does require you to have filled up all other crops to 100%, that way the "pig food" becomes 100% potatoes/beets as that is the only thing it can fill up.

It appears to be true after further checking up. Filling up all the food slots apart from potatoes and putting spillovers back into the feedthrough gives you potatoes/beetroots. I should add it is still hardly exploit since doing that is a hassle. Every time you clean feedthrough you must bring 3 types of food in separate trailers all the way from silo to your pig farm. Or keep 3 separate trailers on standby, though if you have lots of pigs it wont work because of extremely large quantities needed to replenish food. I'd better rent machinery, get one large harvest of potatoes and dump it in a big pile nearby. 3 buckets a day keep pigs hunger away:)
