Used to a mod map in FS 13 that had decent sized fields, could do field ends, split the middle, and send two combines/harvesters one to each half and chase round and round with cart or truck. For some reason the FS 19 starting maps seem smaller than the starting maps for FS 13, maybe it just looks that way though.
Some of the starter game maps have fields that are just too small. Like working the farm garden... Big combine and small field won't even get 1/8th of a hopper full.
I did this as well. Bigger, always bigger, plow that thing to within an inch of the road!

That is a helluva lot of tree cutting and landscaping to get that extension at the bottom! How in the heck did you find the time to do that!
The whole project started with making a road from the BGA to the Barn to mass sell siliage. So I cut down all the tree's and put the road in. But I was looking at it and decided with a bit of work I could make the field better too. I used the ground leveler mod to help keep the cost down while raising large chunks of land. Used the leveling tool in other places and finalized it all with the smooth tool. lots and lots of passes with the smooth too. Oh and I had to raise the ground up over the paved roads so I could plow over them. (a couple rocks too). I should add in. I am playing on a dedicated server that has been up since release. it is currently day 70 and we are playing hard mode.

But you can't plow thru roads anymore? That is kind of disapointing. You could plow the roads away in 15 , I am not sure about 17 and have not tried in 19.
Both. Depends on the crop yield and the working width of tools. For low-volume grains like soy beans, sunflowers or canola, I want the field to be as big as it can. For high-volume crop (which usually also have tools with small working widths) such as potato, sugar beet and sugar cane, small fields are enough to fill a few truckloads. Medium fields work well enough for things like corn, wheat or barley.
Since I'm working with AI I want my fields to be rectangular, which ofen limits the size of fields I can create. But this forces me to be a tad creative. :)
For the large fields, when I played FS17 MP with a couple friends these are quite good for a change when we all work together getting the crop harvest and planted.
