How many tractors do you guys own at one time?
How many tractors do you guys own at one time? I currently have 2 but am well on my way to buying a third. I find myself increasingly using workers because there is alot of maintnance to do on my farm such as feeding cows/sheep, refilling Lime and fertilizers, washing equipment, running and selling the grain at the sell points, making TMR and so on..

I think with 3 tractors I will be more efficient because right now I can only have 1 worker doing things for me while I do the maintenece aspect. Of course this depends on how big your farm is, but I only have 2 tractors right now and have 4 fields now. 1 field I used for cow/sheep pasture, while the other 3 are combined into one giant field.

so, what do you guys think is the sweet spot to how many tractors to have? Also, do you guys find that you are using workers to do alot of the hard tasks such as plowing which take forever?

Depends on how detailed you want to go. In FS15, I had 3 or 4 large fields, and a combine, tractor, and seeder for each one. This let me use many hired workers, and I could perfectly travel between fields with a truck to collect grain for the silo. I then sent the seeders going, and while they did their thing, I would go sell grain and do other maintenance things. This worked well, and I made good profit each harvest for my time. This was without any animals. In FS17 I kept 2 combines and 2 tractors with sowers, and cycled them through my many feilds, and did other things, like logging and animals, when I was waiting for them to finish, ocassionally chaecking in on them to amke sure they were still working.

I usually 3-4, But break them down into specific roles

1 Heavy for ploughing, cultivating and sometimes drilling

2 Mid range with differant hp for the above jobs if I feel like a change but mainly other jobs like carting, baling, spaying ect.

1 low end HP for running the feed wagon down at the dairy and some times hay/grass/silage bale making

The only time I use workers if for threashing, corn silage or if I cant be arsed. Other than that I do most of the work my self. Actually enjoy the ploughing now tbh, even with out gps

I dont own any large fields. Nor do I combine fields together, prefer to keep the original shape. I've been playing dariy farms since the last legs of FS 13. Small and medium size fields usually meet my needs as the cows bring in most of the income. That kind of play styles's stuck with me since. I may have the occasional large field or two but I normaly play british or german so they're not as large as american ones. And like I said before, I can hire a worker if I cant be arsed

It all depends on how progressed I am through the game. If I have a lot of money to burn then I tend to buy as many as I need and keep them for specific functions. For example I will keep a couple attached to forage wagons, One for seeding, one for plowing etc. At the beginning of the game I try and have 2. It's easier to hire a person to sow while I can mow and bale.
