The 'dirt' is actually piles of food that you will find in the trigger area of the feed bin. Scoop them up with a loader and pour it back into the food bin. There will be a bit of a delay before you see the cleanliness level change.

Correct

There is a bit of an issue at the moment: Chicken turn other grains into wheat. You cannot add wheat to other grains in the feeder. You have to bring the wheat elsewhere.

So they turn barley into wheat, and you can't mix them in the feeder? Wow.

Something you can do to make this clean up process easier is place a conveyor belt in the spot where the mess is made and just turn it on when clean up is needed.

Love it. I was hoping for a simpler solution, such as a broom and dustpan for $20, rather than a front loader bucket. But let's go large, with a conveyor belt!

So please tell me, does the conveyor just move the mess to a pile on the other side of the conveyor, where it can be picked up later? And having moved the pile, the chickens are now considered clean?

Thanks-

I forget what it's called but it's the small conveyor that picks up piles from the ground and moves it upwards on the belt. As soon as the piles off the ground the space is considered clean. Using the conveyor the most you need to ever do is just reposition it slightly so it dumps the feed back into the feeder.

Edit: It's the S-710 belt, first one in the list under tools>belts

In fs17 you could just leave it and it moves stuff automatically, but in 19 you occasionally will just need to move over to and "drive" it and maybe toggle the belt on.

Wow, thanks Essedus!

Turns out there's some kind of bug possibly related to using the belt like this. The amount of feed I've had for my chickens hasn't been decreasing. I've gone something like 4 weeks in game not having to refill the thing. I think maybe the amounts in the piles are incorrectly calculated and are perhapes more than what supposedly falls out. This was not an issue present in fs17.

Maybe steer clear from using the belt idea if you don't want your animals to have infinite food.
