Wheel auto centering?
Anyone remeber in FS17 where when you turn (Im using keys) that once you stopped pressing A or D that the wheels would go back to being strait? That dosent happen in FS19 and its bugging the hell out of me. Is there an on/off setting? Or is it a "New feature"?

EDIT : I now notice at high speeds they will auto center, but not at low speeds/idling. Still very annoying, diffrent from FS17

Thanks bud. If you crank it to 100% they will autocenter back to the way they were in FS17. Thanks so much for the help!

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

All good mate. tbh, not sure why Giants didn't make it 100% by default but there ya' go... :)

I like the option of leaving the tractors parked with the wheels turned. The way it is now they only autocenter if you move, unless you have "Steering back speed" at 100%

All my tractors are parked with turned wheels, gives it a realistic feel :)

As someone who has done a lot of hours on tractors, I disapprove of turned wheels being "realistic".

Try parking a harvester in the shed on full lock with the comb on at shift change. Watch what happens. ;0

There's a setting for it now. Once you get used to it its so much more fun though... the trick is to drive it like a car.. rather than an fps.. if your wheels are pointed to the side when you press W, well, your tractor will go that way.

Once you get into the habbit of making sure your tyres (or the steering wheel if you're thinking about real driving) is correct before accellerating the new system is much more fun. After learning it i turned it down to 10%.

Do you actually drive?

Cars auto centre - particularly vehicles with power steering (which is most these days). If you're stopped and turned, no (of course) but they auto centre in motion.

(ED: I just reread what you said and maybe you're only talking about stopped vehicles but then turning auto centre down to 10% would not be "like a car" at all when in motion).

I have a strong feeling that anyone who complains with the changes in driving hasn't clicked how to do this yet.. it makes complete sense that was my first reaction being used to fps tractor driving and it was horrible. But after i worked it out its awesome.

Yeah that's why you keep it on 10%. Give it a go. It still feels closer to a racing video game at 30+. You can almost pretend you're driving at 10. I guess at speed kbm breaks down anyway.. the on off response is too sensitive and comes across as twitchy, theres no time based curve so its the best you can do without a wheel.

I think Giants could have saved about 20% of the people raging about this game if they set it to 100% by default.

Definitely. Though at the same time, if i wasn't initially confronted with being unable to go straight in my tractor, i probably would have not learned the new system and i do like it better. I know this because i deleted keyboard steer moments after trying it in 17.

Tough one though, depends on how much you trust your audience. Bet they're not going to do that again.

Yup. Same as the starting resolution being set to a lower than native resolution.

Pretty simple things to do.

I think if the people raging about this game are not intelligent enough to figure out 99% of the stuff they rage about themselves. Then they don't have any bussness playing 99% of these games. They should go back to their other hobbies.

But this is coming from someone who was around and playing games at the time that it got you made fun of and taunted. Way back in the 80's/90's. So take it for what you will.

In my experience though, having been around for as long (and possibly longer), it is better to keep it simple for the people who need it simple and allow for complexity for those who want complexity.

It is always better to opt-in to complexity, not opt-out of it. (so many companies know this so well.)

Well I'm just talking about the ones that rage about it. Because it always seems like they rage about the simplist and stupidest crap, that even an infant could figure out.

I would agree. I picked up on the wheel thing right away, but then in FS17 I was using a mod to get close. I also make it a habit to review the options/preferances/settings of any piece of software I get to see what is there even if I do not make any changes to anything at first.

Though for some things, better documentation in the help/info area would be usefull.

I love having my wheels stay where I put them when my vehicle is not moving, especially when im making adjustments for pressision backing with a trailer.
