Where to put chicken coop

I'm playing on the US map. I started on easy mode cause I wanted the pre-built farm with some starting cash instead of being a millionaire who suddenly wanted to take up farming. (I also didn't wanna spend $330k for a crack house lol)

Regardless, I can't seem to find anywhere to put the small chicken coop, much less the large one, without losing a field somewhere. I sold off some of the decorative buildings and tried to place it, but it says "the terrain can't be deformed there". I spent like 3 hours with a chainsaw and tractor clearing trees and stumps in a relatively flat-ish area, only to be told the same thing.

The only place it agrees to work is in an existing field. I wanted to eventually grass over the 4 starting fields for later, so I don't really wanna put it there. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem, but I started "from scratch". Someone said Giants may add terrain manipulation in game and road painting, so maybe it'll be better in the future.

I removed the old barn and put it there.
