Ravenport, a strange approach from Giants
The Ravenport map is an ugly representation of Amarican agriculture. The map is a distopian landscape. Either clean and fix the map or include a free 'brush hog'.

clearly you never lived in a farm town... this aint far of off what you find in run down little farm towns in many places that have long since seen the good ol days, some places are better, some are worse.this is a happy medium

I agree with you somewhat, Giants and even modders have a real problem portraying the real american farmlands. Ravenport is a poor example of true American farm country (Just FYI Nightwolf, no disrespect to you but I live in the heart of farmcountry in a small farmingtown in central Missouri) Ravenport reminds me of a small backwater area around the Ozarks full of rundown trailerhomes and poor people. That isn't American farming. I don't hold out much hope however, I've yet to see anyone do true justice to American farming. I still love the game and the modded maps they have in FS 17 are amazing. The closest I've seen to a good American map is Lone Oak, but even it is squared off fields, I've yet to see that in any farmland here.

Ravenport map reminds me of the trasher parts of the California coast.... I started on this map but the ranch house is not nice enough for me to call home.. so I've moved to Felsbrunn.

I would liked it to be more like the nicer parts of the central CA coast (which the terrian/mission remiind of)... or at least a nicer ranch home... like the one from the fs17 sugarcane map.

well then we can change the opinion to "I want a happy map to play on" that would be fair to say and perfectly fine

Oh don't get me wrong, I am playing Ravenport and I will turn it into a great place to farm, but it will take a lot of work. Isn't that what the game is about? As far as the farmhouse, it does match many of the older homes in this area, to bad you can't fix it up a little. Some paint and a little redecorating and it would be home for any midwesterner.

Lol...what about the trash pile at the shop? Do they really think that that is the way it is? A dealer that sells millions of dollars of equipment is going to leave trash all over? Sorry, no. This is not how small towns in the U.S. are. They are the opposite.

Yeah this highly incorrect. I don't know what ghetto you live in, but a "happy medium" is a medium-income family. You don't find John Deere 9 series on a trailer park farm, buddy. The happy medium would have been a farmhouse with lots of acreage. You can find both 20 year old equipment and brand new equipment on a farm like that. That's why that would have been a better option.

The two sides are the trailer park farming where you're obviously from, and coporation farming like you can find in Texas. This is a poor example of an average American farm/map/city, in all aspects.

On top of an average salary of around $80,000 for a farmer in the United States, which is well above the cutoff line for living in a trailer park, partnering with corporate farms as well as subsidies, the average American farming experience is not what you believe it is. You're as wrong as Giants is.

I actually love this map.. its much more interesting than the german one.. i'm just having a really hard time finding a scenario to start in. The spawn point farm is nice but the fields are way too small. You also have to buy super expensive land which is going to take forever without silage, but good luck with that (really... :/) Then you go to the one grass field on the map and its ho hum boring.

I guess you just have to suck it up and wait until you can afford it.

One downside I found is the crops, if you buy the small "starter" area, I got one sunflower, one cotton, one canola and a potatoe field, by the time I bought or even leased the equipment to harvest all that I would be broke. A little realism in a starter area would be nice. I gotta suck it up and just plow in some of them.

Isn't that about as real as it gets?

Based on Giants actions as of late. I think the messiness of this map is a jab at Americans. I have come to the conclusion they do not like us.
G.T.R Nov 20, 2018 @ 8:34pm
I don't believe they would deliberately alienate such a large portion of their customer base. They are in this to make money after all, I believe it is more of a lack of understanding what American farming is all about. That said I won't discount what your saying Procobator, with our current reputation in the world anything is possible.

personally I will wait for all our fabulous Modders to get out the good maps, Giants base maps are never very good anyway.

I like it. You feel like you start from humble beginnings and can move forward to build your farming "empire" and build up the community. And yes, a brush hog would be nice.

Stop ♥♥♥♥♥ footin' around, it's more than obvious that the German Devs are taking a cheap shot at western culture. I have bought every update since FS 2013. With each update I have bought ALL the DLC's to help support Giants software (even when I didn't need the DLC). Now, with this discussing display of international ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I will never spend another red cent on German software! Have a nice day gentleman...
