Is this a real sim?
I like my sim games to have an element of challenge to them, an element of failure. Is there any challenge in these?
Is it possible to die? To go bankrupt? Do you have a family to feed? Maybe a shotgun to get them pesky foxes hunting youre chickens? etc

Id like to start with only a shovel, and work my way up!
Maybe a mod out there?

Farming sim i would not consider challenging at all. Look elseware, although not quite really sure what would be more chllanging.. maybe cattle and crops once its finished.

Copied from Dev Blog, take a look at Start From Scratch.

It all ties into our three new play modes:

New Farmer - is a balanced starting experience that gives you some equipment and a small pre-
placed farm, ready to be upgraded. This mode is similar in playstyle to previous Farming
Simulator games and recommended for new players.

Farm Manager - gives you a large amount of money but no farm or equipment to speak of. This
leaves you totally open to build the farm of your dreams, picking a prime starting location and
crafting everything from the produce to the aesthetics.

Start From Scratch - is the most hardcore option, enabling realistic settings and starting you with
no land, no farm, and limited money. You will need to plan carefully, and we’re excited to see
which areas of the map become optimal starting locations under these conditions.

Thanks guys :)
Ive watched some lets plays with Mrsealyp, looks a relaxing game, and very nice youtuber!

Start From Scratch - "You will need to plan carefully".
Do you? I mean really..do you?
What happens if i plan dreadfully? Are there repercussions?

I do think i may get the game..not 100% yet though. Maybe wait for reviews, or sale.

the repercussion is, you get thrown in the manure pit.
but seriously , there are no repercushions but lack of money, so you cannot progress.

Nope, this series is very unrealistic. everythign is really dumbed down and it sbasically just a tractor driving game.. Ive played FS15 adn FS17 and I think I'm gonna pass on FS19. No real difference it seems except new tractor models and you lose access to tthe old tractors. There is really no challenge no risk of failure unless you count missign a harvest and the crop withers. The fertilizer model is simplistic at best.

If you dont own any game in the series I reocmmend youbuy this one, btu if you already own FS15 or FS17 then in reality there is no incentive to buy FS19, they just keep rehashign the same tired game engine.

$35 is a bit much for what it is. Honestly, for $35 I can buy a couple bags of feed for my real farm.

A real shame that! I havent played any of these, and agree the price is a wee bit steep for a casual game.
Thanks for the points mate.

price is fine, bearing in mind all the content and copyright machines. farm sim survival is a mix of interrest and to open to get right. if your looking to have a farm a family and dog look at farmers dynasty for an idea of how it would look. if you want it close to real life with everything going not gonna work too much to control. the game is great for what it is and consistant on price .

Is Cattle and Crops considered to be more realistic compared to Farming Sim?

I own FS17 but I'm not really sure either whether it's going to be worth spending money on FS19 on what is mostly considered just giving the previous version a clean coat of gloss paint meaning it's still virtually the same underneath

there are no such things as real simulators lol. there are games and then there are games with simulator in the name. it takes alot more then just planting and harvesting. i find it funny how people think cause they play this game they can be a real farmer. when there is about 20 years of learning involved. between soils, what is needed where, depth of seed, when to plant, how to plant. when to replant. so on.
