ERROR:Can't Read Profile Path
I keep getting this error message. I've seen other posts that suggest it's to do with ransomware protection and that it needs to be disabled. I've done that. I've verified game files, I've reinstalled 4 times. First from my new hybrid drive, and then onto my SSD C: drive.

This issue first occurred when I pulled my old hard drive out and installed the new hybrid drive.

If you read what I said. I've already tried that. It still does not work.

I've got 266 hours on FS19 already. This is a new problem that only started when I installed a new hard drive.

I have already tried reformating my entire PC as well. Fresh install does nothing, validating files does nothing.

Controlled folder access is off.

I went through those steps. It's still coming back with the same error: Can't Read Profile Path

Anything? So I just tried to run it through Epic Games as well since it was free and felt may as well give it a try. Still the same error code though. A resolution to this issue would be fantastic cause I've really got an urge to do some grass farming.

The issue was happening from both Steam and Epic. And started happening when I pulled an old hard drive out and installed a newer hybrid drive.

While I loathe EGS as much as you do, and will also spout the same claims of propaganda against EGS. I have to say my issue is not their fault.

I have however just resolved my issue by finding a spare sata power cable to install the old HDD and now with it all installed it seems to work just fine. For whatever reason. The game has refused to run, even though I did a fresh install of the game, multiple times, without this hard drive. And this drive never held windows before.

Ok so here's the issue. I've narrowed down why I'm having this error. It's trying to install the mods and everything that would be in the My Game's folder, onto a partitioned drive F: that only has 100mb on it. It's the system recovery drive. And I can not for the life of me, figure out how to make FS19 stop that.

Bump? Don't forget this issue is still here. The game is insisting on putting a My Game's folder and all the save data and mods into a 100mb recovery partition.

Just a shot in the dark here... are you sure it just wants everything to save onto F: location? That's very strange behavior indeed, unless you specifically specified the game/installation or Steam to do so.

If you edit the file gameSettings.xml in your FS19 games directory, which is in Documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator19, what does one of the first lines say? The one that starts with modsDirectoryOverride? I wonder if that has something to do with your issue? Mine is as follows:

<modsDirectoryOverride active="false" directory="C:/Temp"/>

*Also... have you at any time edited the Windows Documents location from the default C: to any other drive? I did on my a while back and my Documents are all saved to my D: What is the actual location of your Documents folder?

i just downloaded the game and am having the same issue, has anyone found a solution to this?

I am having the same issue. I just bought and downloaded it tonight. It downloaded correctly to H drive. When I tried to play it, it wanted me to install it, which I thought was odd. It somehow changed my default steam drive to C instead of H. I changed it back to H drive and it verified the files. I tried playing again and now it says "ERROR:Can't Read Profile Path".

In other words.. BUMP!

fixed my problem by restoring Documents to default. This was all caused by a failed HD months before and windows thought my docs folder was still on the failed D drive. Big thanks to Knottypine.
