Its not that expensive to port it to VR... Get one guy in there and he can port it to VR in 4 work shifts... It is literally a 1 man project... And I would beg the differ about there not being enough people interested. VR is very popular, especially with sim games. I dont think you know this crowd very well. Many people who play the farming sim game have $300-500 race wheels and joy sticks. I bet at least 20% of the crowd here as a VR headset. Theres another 10-15% that would go out and buy a VR headset just for this game. If the VR port was done well this game could very easiliy be in the top 10 charts of best selling VR games. I dont see it being any less then top 5. Now tell me how thats not worth it....
This is a PC game, targeted towards sim gamers, many PC gamers have good riggs. Many people who have good rigs wanna test their Rig with a VR headset. It's a full 360 game. Targeted towards putting you in the seat of a farmer... The graphics are good but you wont blow a fuse trying to run it... I mean everything about this game is set up to be a perfectly enjoyable VR game.
Most people would own VR headsets if there was more great games like this... People dont wanna port to VR, so the market is low at first because there was so few games, and because the market is low people dont wanna port... That's called a self fulfilling prophecy. You are the creator of your own problems.
Imagine if cellphone companies had the same attitdue. Not enough people have cell phones so why create text messaging? It's just not worth spending recorces on... And now, its our dominate way of communication. Any company that didnt evolve with the times is now out of busniess... Like Block Buster.
As VR evolves it will slowly snuff out consoles and flat screen experiences. its foolish to think otherwise. In the past 5 years VR has changed raddically, the console gamers and flat screen gaming companys better watch their back because VR is about to come out of left field and completly take over. VR has always been the Hallmark goal of gaming.. We are about there... I say now is the time to start getting ready because by the 2030's VR will be standard porting. Sells will be poor if there is no port. You really dont wanna have that "not nearly enough of the farming sim fans have vr to make it worth spending resources on. " attitude right now... Any busniess advisor worth their salt would tell you thats a really bad attutide to have.
For what you want it is more then you suggest.
You said " Using Rift controllers to control my cockpit", there is going to be a lot of programming and other things required to make just one cockpit function with VR, think of all the machines in game and that is not a simple task.
You then need to try to create a system for MODs, all vehicle MODs would need to work the same.
That I don't see happening. Not a 1 man project.
If you really want to play in VR, use VorpX. It's a paid program but it works quiet well in game. You can play in vr in almost any game that doesn't officially support it
I wouldn't buy a VR set just because FS 19 went VR..
In fact.... there are many VR "only" games I would play if they were flat screen compatible.. but since they aren't .. I wont buy them... and certainly won't buy a VR set to play them...
Elite Dangerous uses a gamepad. as well as a Keyboard and mouse. I'm able to play Elite perfectly fine with just a XB1 controller. This game would not suffer from a lack of controls.
Children make VR programs.
Let that sink in before you make that argument a third time.
As for how many have a VR headset, and 10% buying it for this game...
The stats you claim are wrong..
VR = 0.73% of steam users have a VR set... not even 1 percent...

thats far from the middle... wouldn't you say?
And I've never seen one person on steam who was into taking polls so... That stat is most likley scewkd. Also, a lot of VR players dont even use steam for VR games. Also, No matter how big your TV is, My VR headset will win. I can make a movie theater sized TV screen in my VR headset. And its 3D It's not just a screen. It's 3D vision and 3D sound. No matter how big your 2D screen is, its always going to be 2D. Also, most Steam users arnt into simulation games. Also, most simulation gamers have more money on average because their often adults. Based on your statements. I know for a fact youve never used a VR headset... Which means your arguing from a position of ignorance. Get a VR headset, go play one of the multiplayer games. You'll see the lobby is full of hundreds of players.
Not only do I have one. I have 3 headsets in my house. Thats another thing not accounted for. A lot of people have 2, or more. So they can play with their friend or roomate or spouse. I have 3. I have one for me, and 2 more for who ever wants to join me. Planning on getting a 4th one so we can do 2v2 games.
