Does it only do that the first time around or always require cultivating after those crops?
Because if it always requires cultivating after those crops, whoever did seasons really does not know what IRL no-till seeding is... (And Giants missed to some extent as well.)
From what I have seen that was an FS 17 requirement, now changed so that the grain crops never require plowing after, even if you plant them 3+ times in a row. I read that in some guide, and did actually test it out, but still later turned off the plowing requirement. At least then you only have to plow once if the field state required it at the start of the game. Easier to do it the same time the field gets expanded out like I always try to do.
(only these crops are mentioned as it can be clearly seen in in the Help section (press ESC), under Improving Yield)
Sunflowers and Cotton do not require plowing. only cultivating.
The grains (Wheat,Barley,Oat,Canola,Soybeans), none require plowing. only cultivating.
(Although the fields could be in an initial state requiring plowing)
Thanks for clearing this up. Do root crops and corn require plowing if you turn off periodic plowing? Read some other posts on google and many are saying that closest to rl in USA is to turn off periodic plowing as we rarely ever use a plow in this country anymore.
Yeah plowing is a bit of a problem cause it requires massive power and the implements aren't that big. With plowing enabled, this makes Corn a tough crop to do, since it doesn't pay a lot more than Wheat/Barley and requires considerably more work. It's still the most pretty crop to look at on the trailers though :) That yellow!
Corn silage is worth it, but the Biogas plant process speed is so slow now... harvested 40 acres of Corn silage (2.1 million chaff), and takes more than 2 days to sell.
