To Repair Or Not To Repair?

I've been doing some testing by not upgrading my vehicle Halls other than the gas stations along with not repairing my equipment and found that there's no difference in the way the machinery acts or preforms. So far, I've seen no reason to do the repairs, thus saving monies.

If I understand this, the fee that I Occur every month will increase and will continue to increase aslong as I don't repair? The equipment dosn't show wear directly?
