I've played through it twice now and I don't mind it.
I'll admit, however, that Moe and Ben and Trilo were annoying to read through.
After the first game, I found I liked the filler turnabouts more than the main storyline turnabouts because I found the main story rather contrived after the first game.
Honestly, the high point of the series was the secret final turnabout in the first game. After that, the two "Investigations" games were the best. Those were amazing.
