What's the best game in the trilogy?
Just finished the first game and was very impressed, but I have mixed feelings about continuing. Are the sequels as good as the first? Or are they even better?

Everyone will have different opinions on this one, but I think most fans will agree that all three games are great. Why stop now? :)

Personal favorite of this trilogy is definitely the third game, but that's because it has the previous two games to build off of, so it gets a lot of satisfying payoffs for all of the overarching mysteries and character arcs.

Well, I'm a bit scandalized at how many hours I spent playing the game. It's huge! I feel guilty about dedicating so much time to a game, even if I love it. Know any awesome shorter games?

How essential is the second? I've been leaning towards skipping it. Over 90 hours of game play (the whole trilogy) would weigh heavily on my conscience.

I mean, you COULD, but I wouldn't in good conscience recommend outright SKIPPING a game in this series. Like I said, these games build on themselves, and there'd be returning characters you wouldn't be familiar with.

If you're in this for the story and characters, I recommend every game in this franchise you can get your hands on. If the core gameplay loop is straight up NOT FUN for you though, just watch a playthrough on youtube or something.

With the original trilogy, I don't recommend skipping them. There are key points in the story that are revealed further in the 4th game, Apollo Justice. The 5th game, Dual Destinies, also touches on some of the past events, but not by much. Haven't gone through the last game though, been meaning to.

Far as my opinion goes, I like all three. I like the music of the first, I absolutely love the second soundtrack, but the third one I didn't like that much music-wise.

If it helps any, you could also use a guide to help with during the court days.

Guides make the game no fun. Actually, it's not the court that annoys me but the detective work between. Really, my biggest problem is that these games are so time-consuming. Insanely good games, but they eat up a lot of time. Your appraisal on the music makes me interested in the second, since music is the most important thing for me...

Frist one because Edgeworth / Von Karma got the most time there.
Second and third are still very good though, although a bit more predictable?
The best in the trilogy is Trials and Tribulations in my books. Apollo Justice is really good in my opinion. It's quite different than the trilogy and I can see why some people don't like it.

They don't have the rest of the games on the PC so you would either have to buy them no the App Store or buy the games for their respective DS. The App Store tends to be cheaper so I'd suggest buying it there since Apollo Justice can go for a pretty penny on Ebay.

And which has the best music?

I agree Trials and Tribulations is the best one in the trilogy, it has some good and interesting cases. If you want to know which has the best music, I'd recommend you to listen to some osts on youtube, as every game has awesome soundtrack and I couldn't choose only one of them.

My personal liking to the second games music is just more I like the tone of them. I have a particular liking for the Courtroom Lounge, the Trial, and both of the Cross-Examination tracks.

Trials and Tribulations is definitely the best, with the original following close behind. JFA is the worst of the three, but everyone has mixed opinions about it, and you should definitely play it. As for best music, the Courtroom Lounge and Pursuit themes of the original are amazing, Von Karma's theme in JFA is great, and Godot's theme and the investigation music in T&T are amazing.

The Third game, since its the third longest. And the first to feature a 2-Part Court Trial Case. This 2-Part Episode would be seen again in Dual Destinies' DLC Episode & Spirit of Justice's Final Episode.

The 2-Part Episodes in the Ace Attorney Games are:
Stolen Turnabout (Grand Larceny Trial followed by a Murder Trial)
Turnabout Reclaimed
and Turnabout Revolution (Civil Trial followed by a Murder Trial)

So what did you think?

C'mon, be honest. I was the best, wasn't I.
