Can't progress in Turnabout Goodbyes

So right at the beginning of the game, I talked to Edgeworth and Gumshoe about the situation but right now I can't find any more path to continue the story. I exhausted dialogues of both, examined everything and there seems to be no trigger for next event. I watched a walkthrough and apparently there should be a scripted dialogue for Gumshoe and I get access to the beach, but it doesn't happen for me at all. Any idea why this happen?

I have nothing to present aside from Wright's badge which opens some new lines from both but doesn't ultimately lead to new event.

I could have sworn you had to present the badge to Edgeworth to indicate that you want to defend him. Then when Gumshoe hears about this, he lets you into the park. At least that is how I remember it going.

so I reloaded a previous save and started the case from scratch, now there's a new dialogue choice for Edgeworth after presenting the badge to him which didn't happen before. Weird glitch. Anyway much appreciate your help :3
