Original pixel art
I wish this game had the option to toggle between the new and original art and music, similar to Double Fine's remasters. The new art looks quite nice but the pixel art was truly brilliant.

Yeah, I guess I am biased, but this just looks bad. Like they just colored in the sprites with a crayon or something. Not a big deal however I agree with you. It would have been nice to have a way to play with the original sprites.

If modding's possible, you could replace the HD sprites with scaled up pixelated sprites.

Yeah, looks pretty bad. Original art is killed, wrong colors and shading is weird. They should probably include both.

The problem with the original art is that it is so low-res that it looks pixelated on a DS. It just doesnt look good on a big computerscreen.

I beg to differ, but that's just my subjective opinion.

The new style obviously had time put in but the sprites look like fan art or something. There's just something off about them. The outlines, the coloration, the looks in general are... weird. I wish they would port the series into that new engine they're using with 3D sprites and orchestral scores like Dual Destinies.

I think what makes the new sprites look weird/off is due to the backgrounds in my opinion. The backgrounds and sprites just don't mesh together well, just makes the sprites look out of place.

That's probably just me though. The first time I saw what the Trilogy looks like on PC and consoles, I wasn't a fan of it. I knew something was off, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Sure, it looks the same on 3DS, but the 3DS's screen is smaller, which made the artwork look much better.

The DS version is not the original art. It has enhancements over the GBA trilogy.

OG Pixel Art and it held pretty well on a big screen

I agree, the new art looks really amateur. I really wish there was an option for the original art, I was about to buy the game, but I don't think I want to play it like that. My brain just tells me it's somethings wrong when I look at it.:steamsad:

They should've hire the guy who did the art for Apollo Justice HD.

The shading is so much better there.

Gorgeous!
it's not like it's a case of "good" vs "bad" art or artists, the original trilogy just has directly upscaled versions of the original art, with no artistic license allowed. that was the decision they made. it is what it is.
