I think this is the mod that changes the English voices to Japanese while playing with English text: https://steamcommunity.com/app/787480/discussions/0/1812044473333083947/?ctp=1#c1810919208218580889

What does that even mean?

Do you mean a Japanese patch? I believe the original Japanese is already in the game.

There is no voice acting aside from courtroom yells.

i would prefer to have retranslation project, the game take place in japan, but the locolization team have turned it into an open US and then having conveluted explenation why you have a japanese styled village in the game, would also love to have the original names as well.

the great ace attorney, other then the whole, doyle estate and copyrights for holmes, cannot be locolized due to how its deeply rooted in japanese identity, as well as including some real history related stuff like the japanese/anglo aliance and the delicate political relationships and recisem.

It can be localized. If it ever gets out of copyright hell, it probably will be localized. And the location is actually important to the plot unlike the main games, so it won't be changed

the problem i have is, they pretand they are in america, while in reality, the ace attorney series take place in fictional japan, wich is why you see conflicting statements like how hard it is to get a firearm, while in reality almost anyone can get one with some background checks.

also capcom got really lazy with locolization ever since dual destinies, and would probebly ruing characters by putting a name that is a pun for idiots, like "dats arable" - "that's a rable" and they would probebly ruin alot of characters in DGS1-2, and will somehow try to force an idea that its a japanese town in the US after WW1 and make some conveluted explenation on how they are there, as opposed to just give a faithfull translation like scarlet study done.

The original names are puns too, they wouldn't ruin any character in DGS 1 or 2 because that makes no sense, and if they localized it they would keep it in Japan because it's actually plot relevant that it takes place there. Unfaithful does not mean bad.
