DirectX 10 Error

Whenever I try to start the game, it shows the Steam windou saying: Preparing to launch NecroVisioN and then an Error appears. It says: ERROR: could not Initialize DirectX 10 Renderer.I also have Lost Company and it runs without problems. Any advice, please?

I tried to download and install the file, but it still didn't help.

Same problem around here. Probably due my graphic card supports DX10, but my system doesn't. Any way to force DX9 version on start?

My rig is as old as the hills..pentium4 3ghz..evga 7800gs supercloaked card and 2ghz of ram..I ran this bug filled game first time around and completed it..I reinstalled it this year and it refused to start..error could not initialize directx 10 renderer..I solved this last night by going into the steam folder/steam apps/common/necrovision/bin folder/configure and scrolled down to CFG renderDevice 2 and changed its value to 1 then save changes and exit.Start game and it worked,,hope this helps ..hj.

There has got to be in the ini files, but I just got it and haven't explored.

Hmm the system doesn't? What version of Windows are you running? Vista and up have support for DirectX 10. Only the GPU affects hardware level DirectX support.

If you're running Windows XP? I'd recommend upgrading to Windows 7 if you have a good dual core or higher CPU and more than 4GB of RAM that is.
