Paintjob modding guide
With the Halloween 2019 update, you are able to put your own custom graphics on your Crumple Zone stock car. Here's a guide how to do it.

General info:

- All image files have to be in PNG format
- They support transparency
- They should be squared sized (length=width) (transparent graphics can have other sizes)
- They have to be put in:
(Your Steam games folder)\steamapps\common\Crumple Zone\Mods\Paintjobs\(car name)
- The car folder will suggest what car model it works best on, but it's available for all*
- Templates for all cars can be used as orientation and are located in the Paintjobs folder
- There is a new "blank" font variant for the number on the door so you can use that one in case the number doesn't fit with the design

*I initially wanted to make the paintjob mods exlusive to car models, but the way the car customization works in Crumple Zone (it's universal for all cars) it would have let to a ton of problematic side effects. That's why now there is a system that tells you what car the paintjob has been optimized for in case you did one that is very specificly taylored to a car's shape or maybe you want to make one design with different optimized versions for the various cars. But no matter what car folder you put them in, they can be applied to every car in-game.

Here are two example how to go about creating a design:

1) SIMPLE VERSION -> use an existing image

- go to for example google and search for a design you might like
- if you ever plan to share or show it elsewhere, make absolutely sure you use a creative commons / royalty free graphic! you can set a filter in google
- if you are sure to use it only personally and never upload it, you can also use copyrighted sources
- make sure you search for a "PNG"
- save the image file in one of the car folders and you're done!

2) HARDER VERSION -> make your own design with an image editor

- open one of the car templates in a picture editor of your choice
- place your graphics on the panels of the car
- NOTE: the whole car is a bit stretched in height, so in order to make your graphics appear in the right proportions, it's recommended to stretch them in height as well
- if possible, remove the template parts before saving, this will make the design look better with other cars
- save the PNG in one of the car folders - done!

Guess I should make a nascar legends then for this game too? :D
Be cool to have all the big names paint skins from the 90s instead.

That sounds like a fun idea, sure go ahead :-) . I cannot use any copyrighted designs and sponsors in the game but for your personal use you are free to mod these kind of things to your heart's content.

I remember when I first created nascar legends for wreckfest I was making parody versions of each sponsor, Like “Do Plant” for DUPont and “STD” for “STP” etc, then I learned that mods are free and I could use the actual sponsors without copyright risk, so I changed them and continued making them all official lol.
Yeh I might do simplified versions of the popular skins for this game. I’ll share a screenshot if I do.
Thanks
