Whats up with those horrible low res graphics ??
hey,

so i'm loving the game, its great and fun, BUT WTF is up with those graphics ??

those graphics, even maxed out look absolutely horrible :( the shadow quality is abysmal, the LOD is so low i've nearly never seen such a low LOD. also the anti aliasing is not working at all o_O

the game looks horrible, even maxed out. it runs smooth at 60fps in 1080p without drops (though on some tracks the frametimes are bugged and therefore it stutters despite constant 60fps but thars something that can be fixed easily) but it looks horrible :(

is it somehow possible to tweak those graphics, maybe manually (the devs most likely won't add better graphics so well) to have a much higher lod, much better shadows etc ?

best regards
monzun

i repeat IN A FEW MINUTES ... internally they just need to raise the shadow resolution which should be like a few clicks only and then change the distance on the lod which again is a work of a few minutes....

You clearly don't know anyhing about game development and graphics engine way to manage things...
The shadow res is low from near of the models, because they are generated in a way that when you're away of the model, it looks sharp, like, when you're playing.

If you increase the shadow render to be sharp even when you are near them, you have to change the way it render, because if you jsut add reoslution on it, then when you ar eaway, wiuth a lot of ultra sharp shadows around, the graphic engine will suffer way more than you think.

So they have to absolutely change the way shadow render from far and near to match what you want, and yeah, that's useless tor ender just a little better 3 seconds of your character near the camera

But of course, on 4K monitor, you can see all imperfections, and that's why I think gaming in 4K is for now totally stupid, even if fun to see something playing int hat sort of resolution, I'm okay with that, but sorry, it's way too early to make game developer taking a care about 4k users, out of just giving high resolution textures and just the resolution itself.

ha ! actually i know more about game developement than you thing. its exactly the opposite, i'm super experienced. and i know the graphics engine would suffer, BUT it can suffer. on pc it easily has the opportunity to suffer because pc hardware is superstrong.

did you read through my posts ? did you see that on my GT980ti, which hardly is a good gpu these days (lets be honest, its only mediocre these days, maybe even below. there are gpus out there that are sooo much stronger) the gpu load in 1080p60 maxed out is only around 20-25%. don'T you think this is a bit ridiculous and there would be still muuuuch room to improve on graphics. 75% of my gpu load are just idling and it could be used with higher graphics settings..

i say, let the engine suffer! and make it better. ramp up the LOD by 2x-3x and the double the shadow resolution. maybe then the game will use around 60-75% of my gpu which would be fine. at least it would look great. also most ppl would still be able to use those graphics settings because most ppl have better gpus than mine these days.. furthermore, the recommended gpu for this game is a gtx 970 which would finally have any reason. right now on a gtx 970 i doubt its getting more than 50% load, most likely even much less..

i've to agree with you about 4k gaming though. i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate 4k monitors and 4k gaming because as you said, you see imperfections sooo much more. did you see how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ witcher 3 looks on a 4k monitor ? there you see the low polygon count etc much more than on a 1080p 1440p monitor. same goes for all other games.

but i'm downsampling it from 4k to 1080p because i have a 1080p monitor and this makes it look good. you still don't see the imperfections, but the image is a bit sharper and the anti aliasing (which is laughable in the game) is MUCH better. at least theres that. if only i could fix the shadow resolution and lod from my side, sadly its not possible because the config.ini only has presets and no way to change those things :(
