#1 worst versions of older music for most of the part.
#2 some of the best worst track design in a kart racer.
#3 an online gameplay mode that's poorly made and is full of griefers.
#4 a really well made poorly developed match making system that crashes and disconnects.
#5 some of the best worst offline content ever in a racing game in genreal.
Online is dead, so you won't find much or any game on there. So if it's online you're looking for, move on. There is nothing to see there.
If you played Sonic Allstar Racing Transformed, this game is by the same developers. The difficulty is not as high, as in Transformed and there are some reused tracks from both All-Star Racing games. Obviously, only the ones from the Sonic Universe.
The Team meachanic is interesting and the only thing that makes the game differ from the other fun racers.
The item balancing is, like in Transformed, one of the best I've seen in a fun racer and the game overall encourages and rewards skill over luck. (Unlike Mario Kart, which has a much higher emphasis on luck and less skill, unless items are turned off.)
The content, however, is lacking. Period. I tried all online modes with a friend. Save for one or two modes, none of them are worth it and are like regular races, with item restrictions.
There are only three unlockable races tracks and NONE of them are available in GP. In fact, two tracks are reused in GP, because there's no even count. (Honestly, each "world" should have had for races, in spite of Sonic games only have three acts per world).
IF you really are interested, put it on your wishlist and wait for a discount. I got it for nine bucks, which the game is worth it. Not the full price.
Things could be different, if the game was supported after release.
For a game that's focusing on Sonic characters only, there's a disturbing lack of them.
No Espio
No Charmy
No Chaos
No Babylon Rogues
No Cream
And probably many more.
P.S. wtf happened to Silver's voice actor?
You never played Crash Team Racing (PS1) then, as races are a lot less reliant on items or luck in single player but a lot more balanced in multiplayer, and even then, require more strategic use of items than most other kart racers.
There's a lot more alright - Blaze, Tikal, Stix, the rest of the deadly six, not even Ray or Mighty are in the roster for starters.
And yeah, not having the Babylon Rogues from Sonic Riders was a real missed opportunity.
They had a horrible excuse to only include Vektor while the rest of Chaotix is "researching" things.
