Are you running w10 right? To have w10, games and pagefile.sys on the same disk may cause performance issues even on specs way above game requirements.
If you have more than 1 physical disk, I still recommend you to try. I successifuly replicate TSR crash by having a browser open on background with pagefile.sys causing 100% disk usage on my secondary drive.
Putting your page file on a HDD may also slow things down.
I run heavier games just fine, but the only games I have problems at the moment are Team Sonic Racing and MX vs ATV All Out, another broken game from a different developer.
And we are probably never getting a fix, since this game is 2 years old right now.
Just uninstalled this piece of junk and i'm comming back to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Collection.
I'm sorry for us all and good luck, guys. Thanks for sharing this suggestions.
Maybe try to look though this:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Team_Sonic_Racing#Game_uses_incorrect_refresh_rate
Maybe also check the task manager to see what the bottleneck it.
Either GPU or CPU might be close to 100%.
Could also be RAM or your harddrive, although thats unlikely.
The is not enough RAM when you're dealing with lack of opmization + w10. Take my case for example:
Before I got a SSD about a year ago, I had to deal with that infamous "100% disk usage" causing my PC to freeze for half a minute. Once I moved pagefile.sys to my secondary HDD, I still got "100% disk usage" on taskmgr, except it stop causing my PC to freeze.
If OP have more than 1 physical units on his PC, it would't hurt to give it a try. In case of any performance issues, it's always possible to set pagefile back to previous settings.
Whenever the system demand for free RAM exceeds the current free ram avaliable, W10 and previous version will take some data out of RAM and save it in C:\pagefile.sys. The problem with w10 is the amount of read/write on you disk(way to much compared to previous versions of windows).
If you don't have a 2nd physical disk in your PC, there is no way for you to try the procedure in that guide I posted.
AMD FX-4170 4.2ghz
8gb RAM
Geforce 960 SSC
Game runs perfectly fine on max settings in 1080p.
Compatability could be where the issue comes from. Try unplugging unecessary peripherals like control pads before launching, or turning off any background programs that aren't doing anything. Add the installation folder to your anti-virus exceptions, and try running the game with 'run as administrator' active. Additionally, when you launch the game, try opening Resource Monitor and take a look at the CPU, Memory and Disk usage is for the game to see if it's stable or if it's eating up a lot of one of them.
Your computer is significantly more than enough to run this game smoothly, so it shouldn't be making it run hot at all.
