This or Transformed?
People are fighting over which game is better, so is TSR in it's current state better than Transformed or the otherway around?

Edit: To make sure, i already own Transformed for PC and PS3 and just want to know if TSR is a good followup game and if it offers good content and plays well on the PC.

Team Sonic Racing is easily better. Transformed doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from Mario Kart.

TSR is more fun and much more indepth. Transformed was fantastic back when it was released. it was one of the best kart racers i've ever played, BUT team sonic racing has added sooo much depth with the team mechanics and they work flawlessly.

i absolutely fell in love with TSR

transformed only had one incredible feature and that were those transformations of the vehicles and tracks. they were incredible and made the game stand out as one of the best kart racers ever, but in terms of actual gameplay it was much more flat than TSR is :( i noticed once i started playing TSR more seriously (after trying out some tracks etc) and once i started playing the team mode online. its mesmerizing how fast things can change and how great features like slingshooting, item transfer and even the ultimate work. love how the ultimate is not random drop anymore but you have to work for it by filling the ultimate bar. that makes it much more fair and balanced !

/thread because the mechanics differ enough for it to be true.

Most people hating TSR is because they're trying to play it as if it's transformed, or worse; they hate it because it doesn't play like Transformed.

Imagine the tears people would cry if this was a transformed carbon copy: "Why isn't this just an expansion pass/DLC? Lmao I'll wait for discount".

Thought about getting TSR when it's cheaper and i already own Transformed for PC and PS3, which i really liked back then. I just want to know if this game is worth it, since the community seems to be split about what game is better.

Community is split because they play differently. It boils down to which playstyle you prefer.

Another thing you should take into account is if you have a console at all, with Crash Team Racing coming out in about 4 weeks you'd be best off waiting for that

Though that has no PC announcement at all sadly atm

From what I've heard this game doesn't have as much content as transformed, sounds like you'd have a hard time finding anyone to play online against either but I can't confirm or deny that, this is just what I'm reading from people who have played it on the forums, reviews ect.

how do you know its the better game. mate, you don't own TSR, you've never played it... you are just assuming Transformed is better because it looks more interesting. but infact its not, this one here has miles more depth to its gameplay than transformed had !!
Secret May 22, 2019 @ 6:37am
transformed is significantly better. never did my team mates crash into me causing me to fly off the track in transformed for one thing. the supposed "depth" in tsr is basically a matter of making you grind for parts (mods) rather than unlocking them by actually playing. the concept of sacrificing power-ups is also stupid. they could have just added the whole drafting thing to transformed and it would have made for a better game, but this nonsense where team mates take stupid paths through the course so to draft them YOU have to also be driving like a moron is for the birds. also the challenges in tsr are REALLY annoying.

Sadly, i do not own any modern console and play Videogames only on my PC.
The only thing that hold me to buy TSR is no crossplay and it's $40 (hell, if this has crossplay I'd buy it even for $50) I can't trust PC playerbase if it comes to arcade-ish games.

Yeah I didn't get his comment either lol

Also I'm pretty certain the whole using the right analogue stick when doing jumps to do flips ect. and get boost was Segas idea first then Nintendo used it in MK7 on the DS

I prefer TSR because of the team mechanics, character banter and the soundtrack to name some of the things I like. However, Transformed is a good game if you love the spectacle of maps being busy, the variety in missions and a greater cast of characters to choose from.

The transformations didn't do much for me and I'm in the minority with that, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt. I prefer my kart racers to be more practical and efficient than pretty and fanciful, the most adventurous one I've enjoyed being Diddy Kong Racing. I'm not saying Team Sonic Racing's ugly or nothing to look at, but its tone has been downplayed (thankfully, not at the cost of actual level design - the tracks are a joy to play, something videos failed to convey to me).

I'd recommend Transformed over this, though. At least, at the current price tag. You're getting a lot of bang for your buck with the $19.99 price tag Transformed is priced at, whereas here the game is young and hype is still fresh in the air. ^^

I think Transformed is the superior game, but this is still a worthy follow-up. Start with Transformed.
