The story is lackluster, but it's a racing spinoff, that'd kinda to be expected.
No balance? Each character seems to stand up well enough in my experience.
The AI require you work with them, and by that I mean give them items constantly.
This soundtrack is amazing.
I mean the lightning is annoying but other than that the weapons are fair, each avoidable but also all can hit if used properly.
Now these I can totally see where you're coming from. Game is in need of some patches for sure, and crossplay to keep online alive.
I'd still put 06 and Boom as worse than this, this is at least a finished game.
Story ok.. it's a race game. But still they could use some cool Anime.
Balance, yes in multiplayer the best characters are speed and technique.
AI they are really bad, won't avoid obstackles and never use Team boosts.
Soundtrack is debated too, but i think it's boring
And the weapons are weird.. the game requires you to follow your mate, but it keeps giving you blocks to block others.. that will block your mate ( especially AI) atleast turn it off for your mates.
Im not impressed with this sorry
It has its fair share of flaws that I can at least agree on, mainly the online but admittedly I never really cared for that anyway as I prefer to play Mario Kart online over this.
As for story? who even buys a racing game for a story anyway, not many I would expect.
My review policy on things like this is "if it's in the game, it's in the review". Sometimes it's better to not do something than to do something poorly, although I personally enjoyed the story.
@OP This is not the worst SEGA game I've seen, not by a long shot. They've repeatedly pushed Total War games out the door when they're clearly not ready, and I'm sure if I were to go through their entire publishing history I'd find worse. I wouldn't even call this the worst Sonic game, because points such as the story, music and balance I disagree with (the music especially is phenominal).
I can certainly see these as valid complaints though. If this is the worst SEGA's ever published (or rather, the worst Sumo Digital's ever produced) then that speaks volumes of SEGA's previous efforts imo.
I know a few people that don't like the music in this game, and that's normal because the last few Sonic Titles had some hipster janky sound to them that feels like SEGA is trying to be to 2011.
I agree with the obvious, though (bugs, no support, and no crossplay).
And of course you're right about the musics. What have they done here ?!
