Gladiator types
How many gladiator types are available and how many more can you further implement?

There are currently three gladiator classes in the game: Thraex (light weapon, light armor), Secutor (heavy weapon, medium armor), and Murmillo (medium weapon, heavy armor). Each class receives a bonus if they equip items appropriate to their class: for example, a Thraex will get bonuses to some of the speed attributes, a Murmillo will get bonuses to the defensive ones, etc...

Do you think it's possible to implement a Retiarius?
Absolutely. I would love to add more classes and types in future updates. Per your other post, I also would like to add more traditional gladiator types but also more non-gladiator enemies.

Shame about the limited gladiator types, I might wait and see if more get added eventually.

I know, I was hoping to see more than just the 3-4 types of gladiator everybody knows about. Anybody remember that Gladiator RPG on Xbox? That game had 70~ types of gladiators.

Did you mean Gladiator Sword of Vengeance also on PS2, Gamecube? Seems it's on steam too even.

Well there is a game called Clan of Champions that is on steam, that I adore, but it's more of an rpg and you have to do everything yourself compared to this game, and more akin to the ps2/xbox/gamecube/steam game.
Successor to Gladiator Begins sort of, the psp game had even such cover art for that game.

You could use armor pieces even as weapons, or steal some from the enemies by knocking off. Not to mention female gladiators. Special stat system for upgrading items, besides just combining two into one with slightly better basic stats.

What we have so far:

Thraex - light weapon, light armor
Secutor - heavy weapon, medium armor
Murmillo - medium weapon, heavy armor

Possible additions (?)

Hoplomachus - light weapon, heavy armour (small round shield + spear)
Dimachaerus - light weapon, light/medium armour (double sicas)
Retiarius - medium weapon, light armour (net + trident)
Provocator - medium weapon, heavy armour (gladius + scutum)
Bestiarius - medium weapon, light armour (spear) - beast fighter

I totally support this, I think the addtion of extra classes could really open the game up. I would also love to see the Sagittarius (archer). They were not common historically but they did exist, and for this game it would open up a whole new bunch of tactial options. We know the engine can support ranged attacks because we had this in Death League.
The reason I think extra classes would be good (besides getting some new weapons such as the much missed spear and trident -not to mention SHIELDS - that would be great) - is this could be combined with fixed entry requirements for games. So some games (maybe not all, some could still be open entry) could have mandatory requirements ... for example Secutor vs Retarius, Hoplomachus vs Murmillo, etc. Or even something simpler such as you must enter 1 Thraex and 1 Secutor in the next fight. Or Provocateur only. Or whatever. This would just encourage players to keep a mixed stable of fighters rather than finding one build that works and having one or two maxed out gladiators that are used for everything.
Sure this could be challenging in the early game when resources and fighters are limited but these types of match could be brought in gradually, maybe as you reach the later cities.
I think all of the above could be acheived fairly easily with the existing game engine and would really help the game reach its full potential.
I think balance more important at the moment than new classes. New classes will only add imbalance and make balancing more difficult.
