Egypt keeps winning?

So I like to play Rome and completely obliterated the game on Normal setting on first attempt. So I tried Heroic... Except pretty early on, I was doing well and bit by bit taking over my neighbours and suddenly Egypt wins a military victory. I thought: okay, must be a strange coincidence because I was kicking their ass on the battle field.

Second attempt I didn't even got to the point where they started a war with me and still they win a victory so quick that I have no idea how to beat them to it.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

I'm playing on Ancient Mediterranean with realistic game speed.

In my current Rome campaign (hard difficulty realistic game speed) the Odrysian empire are the ones closing in fast on an overall victory
