This product is full with spyware
And here we have another devolper/publisher relation who think that would be a joke or not take it seriously. This can be much more expensive as your 1000$ contest for wishlists.

Several analytics connections made automatically from "Insomnia_v2-Win64-Shipping.exe *64"

This contains:

Is the customer informed? Of course not!
Not one Service, but three. And all stuff is 3rd-party.

Dear devs and/or publisher. Remove the analytics directly from the product or be prepared for further trouble. And please note that a subsequent EULA on the shoppage is invalid.

At last i want a detailed report of all the data that is included for each individual service (i also know whats taken), especially for Gameanalytics.

Few examples are: An (anonymized) ip adress, hard/software data, product infos, timestamps and names for initializing the product inlcuding reach different ingame scenery, userids and much more on the one and detailed user behaviours on the other hand.

It's the same as someone standing next to one and watching.

It's easy to do all this stuff optional with own servers and services, so why hidden every **** time and self-evident? Do you pay us customers for our "free delivery data service" for every time we start a product? No? Well... Think about it. We are no milk cows or idiots or whatever you think customers are. That goes for every developer and publisher, not just you.

## P.S. ##
By the way, that argument with "necessary data for development" does not count in this case

Screenshots with timestamps from this forum entry and of course for the detection of the analytics (inclusive product assignable variables) are made, in case somebody should play unfairly. Would not be the first time.

## End ##
Anyway, thank you very much for your understanding Herocraft (it's not your first product with spyware in) and Mono Studio and i'm looking forward to next patches and to have a good customer / company relationship!

## Edit ##

Some info is stored at %localappdata%\Insomnia_v2\Saved\ga_log.txt and there is an SQL database of more analytics in %localappdata%\Insomnia_v2\Saved\Analytics\

Kinda weird this game has online features that aren't discussed, that track your playing.
Well, it's a bit more as the ga_log.txt / Gameanalytics..
Analytics are scattered across by multiple vendors. Of course with own rules and options.
So in theory, the developers can say they do not analyze or track by their own, because only the others do. Had worthless discussions like that already with some devs in the past.

Removing the game is not the goal. The goal is to tell developers to make analytics optional (as example via ingame menu with default off) and inform the customers before! what they buy and not hidden or force them. And I do not mean any coupling contracts as they are usual here. They can do it for their next product...else it will be expensive for them.

But in this case they have to remove their analytics/tracking because of breaking the laws. As i have wirtten, an EULA written in retrospect is still invalid.

There is a lack of understanding and use on both sides... of customers and companies alike...as you can see from some postings here.

If both sides handle it responsibly, both sides will benefit as well. But as now, there is always one loser...

We pay attention to any feedback no matter what it is. The game has issues but what I'm trying to advocate here is that we do really care about problems people have while playing and try to address them asap. Thank you!

Again how exactly what I say is a lie?.
The entire sentence buddy, you can keep lying it only makes you look worse and sadly it's reflected in the state of this game.

Do you have trouble with English? Do I need to break it down?

"We don't receive any analytical information at the moment."

You do recieve ALL analytical information then and now, and you have patched the game once since this and you didn't remove anything or fix any of the top bugs.

This is laughable. I hope no one buys this trash you are trying to sell until it is fixed -- even then you might still not deserve it.
Are you a flat earth kind of person? You sound like someone who makes up their mind in advance and won't ever change it even if confronted with evidence

Given comments they made about me on another thread. They're either easily triggered and prone to jump to conclusions based on their own assumptions, or just simply trolling.

Whether or not the data is being kept by any person or persons isn't anything either party can prove here. It's been stated the spyware or data collecting software will be removed. Now all that is left, is to see if this happens. If it does, anyone calling anyone else a liar now is going to look pretty silly. On the other side of the coin, I'm not apt to believe at face value no one is collecting that data either. So long as that software is part and parcel I will simply stay my purchase until it is not.

This problem is planned to be resolved in patch #3 as I said before.

As I stated earlier in this thread, if the spyware wasn't removed in a week I'd be getting a refund. Since it looks like you've decided to put as much concern into customer privacy as you did into putting out a quality game, I've seen betas that were in better shape, I'll be getting a refund tomorrow. That is unless "patch #3" is coming out tomorrow.
Vault_13 Oct 5, 2018 @ 6:17am
Sorry to hear that! Unfortunately it would be too early to put patch #3 tomorrow, since we still need to test it before release, and, well, patch #2 is out today.

You could get rid of the spyware in a "hot fix" today, if the devs genuinely cared about their customers privacy.

Every player has their own demands regarding the game and we can't possibly satisfy all of them simultaneously. It's been a week since the game is released and our priority is to fix game breaking bugs. We are sorry we weren't able to address this issue earlier.

Your PRIORITY should have been to release a game that wasn't still in beta. I'll be blunt, if the spyware was used in beta then it should have been removed as soon as the decision to release the game was made. I could be wrong but by not stating in some sort of an "EULA" that such spyware was in the game I believe that you may be in violation of some new EU online privacy laws.
I don't work in game development, but I'm willing to bet it's a bit harder than checking a few boxes and saying 'bada bing' to get that through the pipeline if it's not game-breaking compared to some bugs people are dealing with.
Vault_13 Oct 5, 2018 @ 7:15am
We had an EULA during beta and removed it later since we believed that analytic system is no longer there. Thanks to people over here who paid attention to this issue we know now this is not true. We have all kinds of priority tasks at the moment and they can't all be priority at the same time, otherwise it won't make any sense. I believe the bottom line here is that you've voiced your fear, we heard it and acted accordingly. The leftovers of analytic system is going to be removed with patch #3 which is planned to be released next week.

I'm tired of trying to talk sense to you so I'll leave you with this to think about. Without an EULA on the store page letting customers know that the spyware is there you are possiblly violating the GDPR. Shouldn't making sure you aren't breaking the law be the TOP PRIORITY?

I've seen another case similar to this, once the dev was informed that the "analytics" were still going, a hot fix was put out the very next day to solve the issue. So I know it can be done IF a dev wants to do it.
