Hi i fixed it maybe work for you too. Switch off update from steam cloud. Then delete man of war map from Dokuments/MyGames and start the game. :)

Definitive fix for string problem-- go to Documents-My Games--copy the entire Profiles file from MOW Red Tide and swap it for the MOW Profiles file. MOW works like a charm.
