Alpha/Omega: The Christian RPG

Pretty scummy for a Christian game.
Being an RPG Maker game is bad enough, but then there's this: https://store.steampowered.com/app/849760/AlphaOmega_1000_HERO_POINTS_DLC/

Greed is still a mortal sin, right?

I have seen other developers adding extras such as these for a minimal price. It helps me if I can have some goodies that give me an advantage right from the beginning.

It's optional and only a buck. I would hardly call that greed. Nice try though troll.

As a Christian who is a future missionary but currently a part-time comic book artist that is working full-time doing something he doesn't love, providing financially for one's self and family is an unfortunate necessity. Both current and future products, whether it be a game or comic or continued content, require a steady stream of income to make possible. There are great downloadable video games and webcomics created by just one single person out there that are made for free and offered for free, for example, but once that one-man-army finds him or herself needing to provide for themselves and others, they are hoping their current fanbase will pay for future installments. Unfortunately, what is often the case is that readers of webcomics and players of free games will just go to someone else's free product once the current creator can no longer financially afford to offer free product. Simply put, without the generous support of our patrons, creators such as ourselves are forced out of the business and into "real jobs." It may seem like greed to younger folks who don't yet have such responsibilities, but there's no reason to believe the creator here is making enough money from this one game to pay rent, groceries, health insurance, gas, car maintenance and house repairs, debt payment, clothing, upgraded equipment (the computer that helped make this game), etc, and that's all after making back what was spent to buy RPG Maker and any extra resource packs to begin with, let alone making the hours spent to create the product instead of working a full-time job worth it. A dollar for 1,000 points to spend in game PLUS a top tier equipment item is actually quite cheap and generous, and every dollar spent will be one dollar closer to insuring that developers and creators like us are able to continue bringing you quality product in a timely fashion. The same goes, for a very fitting example, for the Christian church. The church can't afford to keep their power and water on, their doors open, send out missionaries, pay their pastor in order to free him up for ministry (so he doesn't have to work full-time), etc, without the financial support of their members. The New Testament Scriptures' Gospels may present Jesus as a homeless man, but it also shows that He relied on the generous support of his hearers for food and lodgings; Judas Iscariot was in charge of tithe/donation collection and safe keeping. Later, the epistles state that the hearers of the Gospel message are financially responsible for supporting the preachers of the Gospel message; the Apostle Paul states in one place that in some cases, although he is entitled to compensation from the churches he ministers to, he doesn't take advantage of it for the sake of the Gospel message being unhindered, instead taking up the job of making tents for people. In other words, we may not like tithing at church or paying for entertainment, but even the Bible shows that without generous support a person can't continue doing what they are doing. It would be fantastic to be able to do things for free, especially full-time ministry, but it is not realistic.

I'll admit I debated adding the DLC. But, as others have noted, it's not necessary to play the game. It's only for people who want more of the best gear starting out. The top weapons and armor are a little more expensive because, as I plan on adding a lot of content to the game, I didn't want people necessarily topping out with the best equipment after only the first chapter. If you do get the DLC, you can buy one or two pieces, but not the whole ensemble. Plus, there will still be plenty of other things to spend your hard-earned Hero Points on as I add the next chapters.

Thanks for your interest, and may God's Spirit continue to be with your spirit!

Isnt that what EA says with their DLCs?

Arent you charging someone for something that does not add any content to the game?

Surely if someone wanted a head start you could add this for free or they could use cheat engine to hack it in for themselves?

Did you not then legitimize a "hack" on a singleplayer game at the cost of $1?

How you choose to justify this is the same as big corporations.

You are selling a line of code that is easily modifiable by the user for $1.

Other games would add an "Easy Mode" and allow the player to select that as his/her own advantage.

Proverbs 28:8
Some people get rich by overcharging others, but their wealth will be given to those who are kind to the poor.

Wanna justify how you charged $1 for a few lines of code instead of adding a easy mode?

Developer, don't feed the trolls.

CartoonistWill above gave all the info needed for them, and I reiterate that those who don't have the responsibilities of adult life can't conceive the effort that goes into producing something and offering it to others criticism.

They can't understand that we are often pulled away from doing what we love, in order to live, eat, and pay our bills. Many have no idea what they're trolling about. And others know exactly what they're trolling about as they serve their true master and seek to discourage others.

Anybody can throw around scripture and flaunt their self-righteous views. Satan did it with Jesus so be happy to have them insult and berate you as it only shows your doing something to upset the devil and bring out his pawns.

If they really did care, and weren't just being self-righteous, then they would make an effort to put out games for free themselves and see what it's like putting in your free time to a project and then offering it up at no cost.

Time is the most valuable commodity we have as it's always slipping away, and we can never buy more, or have what is spent reimbursed.

But faced with the challenge of producing their own free content to give out to others, they wouldn't lift a finger, because it isn't about their perceived righteous indignation, it's all about putting down those who actually try to make content of a Christian nature.

Keep up the good work. And don't be reluctant to provide optional content at cost. How many people offer donations to people for no reward whatsoever? Just make sure you are always forthright about the content and let people know that any funds paid are just a donation towards providing incentive to use your free time to produce even more content.

The trolls, if they really do proclaim to be Christian, should take care of that beam in their eye. (Luke 6:42)

Im really not trolling.

Youre talking about time, but the time it takes to achieve goals ingame are set entirely by the developer himself.

You realize that in a singleplayer game there is almost no system in place to stop you from adding in that currency yourself.

The same currency he is charging money in real life for, to speed up the time it takes in game that he set.

Why not add a "easy" or "fast" mode for $1?

How is this different from p2w microtransactions?

Dont defend something blindly just because you have a vested interest in the theme of the game.
