why do you want it for this game ? it's technically very complicated for this kind of game (pvp is in fixed arena without physics), and it's really better to play multiplayer on a couch
Mario is a console game, so I'm not sure why you're including that in a steam forum?
Trine 1,2 and 3 Have online co-op. Final Exam has online co-op. Abyss Odyssey has online co-op. Castle Crashers has online co-op. Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara has onine co-op. Sacred Citadel has online co-op. MANY other games have online co-op.
Asking why I want it for this game is a pretty stupid question. Obviously I want it so I can play with friends that can't make it to my couch. DUH!
Why is it better to play multiplayer on a couch? Do you like touching the person beside you while you play games with them?
Maybe it's just me, but for this kind of game the interest is in enjoying it together in real life, for example with girlfriend.
Some other games are better for online, imo.
btw games like Abyss Odyssey, Chronicles of Mystara or Castle Crashers have nearly no physical elements, its pretty easy for them to implement online coop.
For Trine it must have been a big headache for the dev team, I admit it, but Magic design is a small team who have done the job of a big one, they did as they could
I just wonder why it has competitive online multiplayer but no cooperative online multiplayer, it's a really weird design choice.
Also, you could try being more mature, eventually. It's 2019.
it's not a design choice but a technical restriction due to many physical elements in the adventure mode.
I've yet to try Parsec, I will certainly give it a go soon.
Also I could try being more mature.. but that's not fun for me so I'll pass on that ;-)
We realised there wasn't Online coop.
So goodbye.
Such a disapointment, the game seemed really cool.
You wanna talk about big bucks and returns so that both investors and developers are happy? Pretty stupid not too and yes its 2019. Ppl during the cold war thought we'd have spaceships by now..
Honestly such a horrendous choice but could have been saved by saying it will come in an update or something rather than it being a technical restriction...
whats the difference in a couch or online on a 2d platformer? I dont understand. No doubt the game value is terrific but this one simple drawback and response to that drawback will make investors and future potential buyers alike hate you.
Take a break, go on holiday sure but to completely ignore it and say its a technical restriction that will never be rectified in the age of rtx 2K GPU, bitcoin mining, cloud systems is downright insulting...its 2019 ffs
That's why you won't find physical elements in pvp mode,
that's nothing to do about a GPU or something like that
the studio has other priorities than spending a lot of time ans money for a online coop mode wich won't be that much used, because the game is designed to be a solo or coop couch experience
I prefer that they add new level and content in the future than having a online mode
Indeed syncing physics can be tricky, even impossible if it relies on stuff processed by the GPU (PhysX). Wasn't aware the game relied heavily on it for singleplayer and the "versus" portion would be so different.
Anyway, as I always say, people can use Parsec to play any "local co-op only" game online with friends, it's an awesome piece of technology that has 0 desyncs and allows such stuff to be played flawlessly. Demanding online support from indie games is so 2017.
Adding online support for smaller games is suicidal, not only because of the technical limitations, but also because this same people complaining are the first ones to have a negative review going saying "the game is dead, noone is online".
