As I stated there, I'm running on a GTX 970, and it's performing great. The people who are having issues are often having them on much higher spec hardware than those that aren't. Some combinations of things is causing this misbehavior, and they probably won't fix it until much closer to release.
To be clear (as I stated in the other thread), I run it on the highest setting on a GTX 970 with no slowdown.
I'm about to have a new system set up with a 3060 Ti to try it on.
I do Unity programming (VR) for a living, though admittedly our company only switched to that so I won't talk like I'm a pro. But I know we've hit various things that were performance traps. We'd often not worry about them unless they were egregious, because we were still working on trying to program the actual features of the software. As such, we let some extremely shoddy code go.
One note, though. I did go back and turn on the steam FPS counter, which I meant to do before. I can verify that I AM only getting 30fps (at 2560 x 1600), even with the game set to 60fps. So I was wrong about "no performance impact". Though I can say that the game seems to be running very, very smoothly. But even when I cranked the graphics settings way down, it still seemed to always max out at 30fps.
After work, I'm going to take this 3060 Ti for a spin and see what I get from it.
I can also consistently halve my fps by pressing TAB for highlighting objects (min graphics setting means only going down to 40 from 60).
