Mac+PC Multiplayer Broken by Today's Patch?
As of this morning, we can no longer connect my PC/Windows Gloomhaven to multiplayer sessions being hosted on my friend's Mac. Prior to today's patch we had no problem, but we now get "Connection Failed" no matter what we try. We did both a friend invite and the invite code. Both had the same behavior.

I have turned crossplay on in my windows install of Gloomhaven. This option does not appear to exist in the mac edition.

The windows machine sits at "Searching for session." The mac Gloomhaven shows that new players are joining the game. Then the windows machine reports connection fails and the mac machine likewise reports failure.

We tried rebooting, no effect. This worked fine yesterday, so clearly some kind of problem introduced by the patch (and probably the new crossplay coding).

Also experiencing this issue. I was the PC player hosting, the Mac player was trying to join. We tried a variety of methods and times, and it always just got stuck on"Searching for session" without ever moving ahead or erroring visibly.

Same here, Mac hosting and a PC with the latest update can't connect. Really frustrating and ruining a long running campaign :(

This is correct. Mac players can no longer play with PC players on the live version of Gloomhaven, and that's not a bug, it's just how the game works as of now.

Saying this is not a bug is just ridiculous.

Agreed. It was either intentional or unintentional, but if it breaks current functionality then it is a degraded version of the game.

i will be asking for a refund if this is not fixed soon. Purchased this game with the understanding that it was Mac compatible with my PC friends. Game is unplayable now.

For a software company to not have this incompatibility as a pinned item atop their stack of discussion topics is a very bad look. If you're not even going to mention the elephant in the room, what sort of trust level and loyalty can you expect from your audience. My party and I are very near completing the game and have to assume that Flaming Fowl will be fixing this. Who knows? When the devs aren't even talking about it in a very public forum, that doesn't bode well. Is it too much to ask for an official take on this?

Think Flaming Fowl are not the Devs anymore or at least not for this last patch.

Same here... mac host, plus one steam player, and one epic player. There's currently no combination of available game versions (including use of pre-patch betas) that gets us all on the same version to play.

Would love to get a timeline from the devs on when a mac update is due to be released, if at all. Should we be considering a refund if the game we bought for cross-play no longer supports it?

We've been playing regularly for the better part of two years, but this latest patch has pretty much ended our run.

A temporary fix for anyone interested: I managed to join a PC hosted game from my Mac when all PC players downgraded their game to the pre-crossplay branch. To do this, go to the game setting for Gloomhaven in Steam (right click the game in the side menu), open the "Betas" tab, and select "v28009 - v28009 - Pre-crossplay branch". I did the same on my Mac but it didn't actually reinstall anything so I guess it matches the latest stable version released for Mac.

They also recommended you back up your save if you do this. There's details in the hotfix notes on how to do so. I believe they say to expect an error if you have launched the scenario/save since the last update.

When I tried this, I got an error popup, but after 5 seconds the map came up and seemed fine. I'll give it a try and see if it will actually work to play with friends, but I got past the error at least.

Worth checking the Discord channels, there's zero acknowledgement from the developer team that they're working on this issue. No apology, no suggestion of a fix, no commitment to any sort of timeline.

I did to and use my save and it was glitched. So unless a PC player happens to wander into the patch notes and intuit that that they will experience a cross-play issue, they will be unable to roll back without bricking their save.

And we likely can't roll back without everyone's saves bricking, so lets just hope the developer speaks up as to if this is something that is intended to be corrected. Otherwise any ongoing crossplay saves are gone.

This is so upsetting! We've been regularly playing Gloomhaven with our friends and just got together only to find out we can't connect. Two of us are on MacBooks and two on Windows laptops. How are we supposed to continue our campaign together?

Devs, we really need some information from you on when this is going to be fixed!

Double disappointment, that not only does this latest update prevent continuing our longstanding co-op campaign, but also that there doesn't seem to be any word from the developers on when (or even if) this issue will be fixed.

Errrr... this... sucks?
