This here. I haven't seen any issues with healing, so perhaps it's a rules issue. There are only two status effects that affect, or are affected by healing: Wound and Poison.
If you are Poisoned and receive any amount of healing, the Poison is removed but you do not recover any health.
If you are Wounded and receive any amount of healing, the Wound is removed and you recover the normal amount of health.
If you are both Poisoned and Wounded and receive any amount of healing, both Poison and Wound are removed but you do not recover any health.
No other status effects have anything to do with healing.
