How many characters for a newcommer, and which ones ?
Hi again,

I'm beginning to play and I have a few questions :

- how many mercenaries should I begin with ? I feel like three would be a good compromise between cards management and time per mission. Would I miss out without a fourth ?

- In case three is considered a good option, how would you build a three guys party for a newcommer ? Including Jotl, not mandatory but I have bought it as well. I really want to use a Red Guard, if that helps. Not necessarily going the retaliation route, though.

- Is there some place where I can find how mercenaries synergize with each other on an elemental level ? I really like this mechanic, but the amount of info is pretty daunting.

I surely have more questions, but I can't remember any other for now.

Thanks in advance !!

Edit : another one, If I unlock a character in campaign mode, will it stay unlocked for the next one ?

Start with two. Wait until you're comfortable and successful with two before moving to three (or four). This is because learning how to play the game requires learning how to play each character, so this reduces that workload at the start.

There are no bad three character teams. Some pairs don't work together particularly well. Though if you start with a Red Guard, anyone else will be fine. Elementally, the Red Guard like light and fire. I think only the Spellweaver (of the starting characters) is likely to help much, but it's not going to be a big deal.

Ok, thanks (again). I'll settle with two and move upwards. Spellweaver seems a bit management intensive though, I'll see for the second character.

Scoundrel and Brute and your good to go. Simple and effective pair who synergises well and teach you the basic mechanics like iniative manipulation.
Red guard is a bit too complex for a first timer imo. Requires positioning, element generation (and not just one but two) plus alot of other stuff like understanding enemy behaviour and such. I'd skip it for now.
