Will Second Edition Affect the Steam Version?

Soon (months, not weeks), Gloomhaven: Second Edition will make its way to the general public. Will the changes in gameplay and the game generally make their way to this Steam version as well?

If they added 2nd edition to another DLC I'd buy it - would probably be $20+ though because it's essentially a new game at that point.

I think that main problem is... If 50% will buy 2.0 DLC and 50% don´t buy. They have to support two different game in the future. 1.0 and 2.0 separately... Not sure how hard or expensive it would be. Yeah 2.0 would be fun and good, but with this user base, An economical suicide.

Will be like a complete new game, change EVERY card in the game, how they interact with the mechanics. Redesign the entire quests, maps, mechanics, narratives, etc.

But yeah, main problem is the annoying amount of bugs this will bring, with every item-card interaction etc. Its like making the game again, and this team is not the fastest nor the best at that.

This want happen for free. IF done, Im 100% sure, or 120% sure wil be a complete new game or payed DLC at that cost. Like if they do Frosthaven for example.

No way that will be an update, 0% chance.

I doubt it would be done. It is a different game. Still, most of the assets would be the same so it shouldn't be full price.

I think it will eventually be done just so that the version on steam matches the box being sold. Otherwise you will start seeing people who only owned the second edition complain about this game being different or wrong.

That being said, I don't expect the update it to happen any time soon, especially with some of the new mechanics they added in 2.

It may also be a completely new game where they name this one is changed to 'Gloomhaven: First Edition' and another one on steam labeled as 'Gloomhaven: Second Edition'.

Frosthaven is already done; the frosthaven you saw in the boardgame campaignnow is like a reprint. The original was a campaign in 2020 and I indeed have Frosthaven boardgame in my hands, it was delivered months ago. This new campaign is like a second chance to get Frosthaven, though you can also get it in stores.

TLDR: it is produced and delivered already.
