Regarding solo DLC: it can be imported, but do you need the mercenary at level 5 offline to do it?
I've exclusively played in an online campaign which I'm not hosting, so if I want to do the solo DLC mission for my current mercenary, do I need to first unlock them in an offline campaign and get them to 5 there to be able to access it, and import the results into the online campaign?

First, everyone in your online group needs to buy the DLC. Then the host then needs to enable the DLC on the save. You get a copy of the save whenever you play, and when you get a mercenary to level 5 you'll be then able to play that save offline to do the Solo Scenario. Then when you next play the host will be notified that you've done the Solo Scenario, and your character will have the Solo Item.

When you join someone elses game a local save is created that you can load and continue playing on your own. I've not tested it yet, but it sounds like you would load the local save of the ongoing campaign, complete the solo mission then when you join the host after they will have the option to import the rewards (item, gold and xp) to the main campaign.

Can I add a follow up question.

Is it possible to add the Solo DLC to a campaign but for the other players not have the Solo DLC and for us to continue to play the main campaign?

So I as the host of the campaign can do the Solo mission but the other players can not but we still get to play campaign and I don't lock them out as we all don't have the same DLC?

No. Everyone needs the DLC.

If you just want to see if you can beat the DLC with your current character, you could make a copy of your save and play using that. This obviously has no impact on the shared version.

OK Thanks for that explanation I had a feeling that I needed to get everyone upto same level.
