Healing potion and Heal on card doesn't work every time
I have tried it both ways: when consuming the potion or performing a heal on myself from the card, I'll click on my character OR I'll click the "Confirm Target" button at the bottom while my character is highlighted. The animation triggers yet I don't get healed! This is a huge deal and I've lost three scenarios as a result. What is worse, is that this isn't consistent. Sometimes it does heal. Does anyone have similar issues with heal?

Is the mercenary you are healing poisoned? If someone poisoned is healed, it removes the poison, but their health is not increased.

Yeah, I'd guarantee you were poisoned if it's working only inconsistently. You should have a skull symbol above your character's head to denote poison. Healing while poisoned only removes the poison (and maybe wound?). Healing non-poisoned characters will remove wound and heal up to the max health.

Yep, it was the poison.

Poison can be bad juju. There are a fair number of cards that have very small heals, which are really there to get rid of poison. Like the Tinkerer had a card where he moves and then gives heal 1 to all adjacent allies. This might as well really say "remove poison from all adjacent allies".

It can be an issue when you really need a big heal, and you have a big heal, except you desperately wish you also had a small heal to get rid of your poison, so you could use your big heal to actually heal.

Though you can also use this against monster healing: cover wounded monsters with an AoE poison -- which will usually have a weak attack -- and even if you do that too late to give your heavy-hitters +1, as long as it's before the heals, it will keep the heals from healing HP, freezing the wound for another whack next round.
