*Potential Spoiler* Problem with personal quest "Aberrant Slayer". Need help please.
Greetings my fellow Guild masters! I have been absolutely loving my time with the game so far! But I have been frustrated with the personal quest named "Aberrant Slayer". Which I drew for my Brute mercenary.

I started a new single player campaign with a squad of 3 mercenaries. I rolled the Brute, the Scoundrel and the Tinkerer. I'm roughly 15 scenarios into the campaign. So far I have managed to retire the Tinkerer, through natural progression. I have the option to retire the Scoundrel, at any moment I return to Gloomhaven, since it's a personal goal (Piety in All things) that's very easy to control for retirement purposes. However the last member of my initial team, the Brute, has a personal goal that's making his retirement an absolute pain to achieve.

The personal quest named "Aberrant Slayer" requires that the mercenary kills one demon of EACH element (Flame, Frost, Wind, Earth, Night and Sun). Easy enough, since they tend to spawn quite regularly in the missions I'm currently doing. However, I have managed to kill 5 out of the 6 elements, and I cannot for the life of me see which is the last element that remains.

PLEASE, if anyone knows of a method that I may easily examine which element I require to complete the personal goal of my Brute character. I'd very much appreciate it.

TL;DR

One of my mercenaries is required to kill 1 demon of each of the 6 different elements. I've currently slain 5 out of 6 elements and have no idea which element remains to complete the personal goal of said character and thus trigger his retirement.

check you completed quests and see what demons you have met. If you have met ll 6. Go back and kill one of each one quest at a time till you hit the one you miss ( my guess is its sun). It would be nice in these types of personal quests if the ones you have done gets a line through them.

Thanks for the reply, I imagine if playing the board game a player would write on a piece of paper which elements they had already defeated making it easy to keep track of these sorts of things.

I was hoping there might have been some option or toggle or menu or hotkey I may have missed that would easily show me this information.

Alas, your suggestion seems like the most likely manner in which I will complete this task.
Manually jotting down on a piece of paper which elements I kill moving forward. Seems very cumbersome that the digital edition doesn't have this sort of thing covered by some digital means.

Thanks again. happy adventures friend.

You are very welcome. I have the same quest and discovered that I had met 3 different demons and only killed 2. So I had to repeat until I got nr 3. Now I know which one I am missing (sun) and just got a side quest with this but I still think that qol would be striking out the small goals reached within the full goal.

I get attached to my mercenaries and I don't want to see them go until they reach level 9 and I can play a bit with their most powerful cards... so not finding and killing the last demon of a personal quest after just 15 scenarios wouldn't normally be a big issue for me!

HOWEVER that quest unlocks my favourite character :) So I wish you the best possible luck finding that demon!!

Yeah really this thread is nitpicking over a quality of life feature i'd love to see added to the game. It's not essential. But would be very convenient. Even as you mentioned, a simple pop up when I mouse over the personal goal, where it would outline/cross out the elements I have previously eliminated. Overall still having a blast with the game. Just really wanna give my big guy the well deserved retirement him and my scoundrel deserve, after carrying me through so many missions. :)

Oh believe me I can relate to that sentiment, of getting attached. I'm already dreading potentially finding future classes and combinations to not be as effective or fun as my current setup. But that is also one of the biggest reasons why i haven't been too upset with the current circumstance/predicament. Since the Brute is only LvL 7 and he still has some room to progress. I would very much like to see his ultimate cards. ;)

But ironically, and I mean no disrespect, your previous statement is a bit of a contrast. Since KNOWING what element of demons you'd have killed previously would help you maintain the character in your party longer and avoid unwanted (accidental) retirement. Seeing as you would know which elements you had previously defeated and you could/would avoid killing the last remaining element to keep this mercenary active for as long as you desired.

Thanks for the reply. Happy hunting friend.

I don't know if I'd call it nitpicking - I came to search the forums for the very same issue as I've killed two of the demons but had no idea what the other four were. I'm sure I'd eventually stumble across all six but if I needed to plan out the final blow to make sure...I'm SOL.

When I got this goal in the board game I wrote down the six demon types and crossed them off as I killed each, and also used a free campaign tracker app. Having to do that in the digital version seems silly - having no checklist appear when you hover over the goal seems like an accidental omission. Or I hope, at least. Would be a nice thing to add.

I'm in exactly the same boat and I'd love a line-through or running tally. For that matter, I also have another character with "kill 3 of 3 different specific types..." and I'm at 6/9. But I have no idea what 3 I need. So, devs, if you're reading this, pretty please?

Definitely not nitpicking! This was my very first quest in the board game and, yes, in physical you have to track on a piece of paper. There absolutely should be a way to track here!
