Is the game good for single player?
How many hours of content would you say are there?

There are currently 148 scenarios. It takes approximately an hour to play a scenario, though that varies with number of characters.

Expect another 95 scenarios of the board game campaign by the end of the year.

do the characters carry over their progress between these scenarios?

Yes. You have a team of characters that gain experience during scenarios, and level up between. You also unlock more mercenaries as you play, so your team make-up varies as you go on.

It's pretty hardcore in singleplay, because you need to know A LOT of cards.
If that's your thing, it's good for singleplayer. Otherwise, play with a friend.

I am using four characters in solo play. The PC version makes the game play much streamlined. I can not imagine how can I control four characters in the table top version.

I think thats all there is... I cant even figure out how to host or join a game...

The menu has a join button but you have to have a code and I don't know how to start a game and get one...

Currently this game is ONLY for single player.

It's boring AF. The game mechanics are there from the boardgame, but the storyline and world isn't. It plays like a roguelike that you can't lose right now, so if you enjoy that, I guess it's got some value. I'd wait for release though, especially given that the game keeps dropping in price in EA.

1) press escape
2) press multiplayer
3) choose to host
4) give the code to your friends
5) wait for friends to join session
6) assign mercs to friends

press esc, choose continue, and play

lets calm down there. the story here is exactly as memorable as the campaign story. it was never gloomhaven's strong point.

Hah, yeah, that's great.

Scenario 27 - "alright, Dave meets you in the clearing"

"who's dave? Did we save him in 14?

"no, that was steve, I think we met dave on a boat"

"No, Jim drove the boat."

"Well, whatever then, what are we doing, killing all enemies? Great"

I always thought the weakest pont of SP in Gloomhaven is the low difficulty (not that i have an easy time when i play solo, lol). Kind of like the exacct oposite to this post here:

I would recommand knowing all cards anyway. xD
So playing 1-4 mercs as one person, realy makes it easy to combine their strenghts (keep in mind boardgame rules, do not allow you to communicate and plan your attacks as a team).

Yeah, I agree, once you know the ropes it is not hard, because you can combine your characters well, being just player.

I was more talking about the viewpoint from a new player that just go into the game as I felt pretty overwhelmed by the many different cards and their upper and lower half, remembering them, what is what side etc.
And then also factorin items in.

In the beginning I often times I ended up forgetting that I burned/discarded a special effect I know was somewhere in the cards, or trying to combine effects where I later realized in the round that they are on the wrong initiative. Or just making oversight mistakes like picking the effects that are on the same side of 2 cards.

It's a lot to take in for a new player that has no experience with these kind of games.
Later on, once you have some hours on your belt, where you get fluid with how it all works and slowly memorized all possibilities, the single player is easier, I agree. You only have to coordinate with yourself.
