The only thing that -might- be true (but I can't confirm) is that the game expects you to have an empty bag slot to use them on the mission. This -shouldn't- be the case, but it might be. (In my case, I had no 'free' bag slots, they were occupied by potions... As they should be.)
You need to end your turn adjacent to the boss, and it is used at the end of turn. I clicked the icon on the toolbar, it highlighted the ground/TheColourless asked me to confirm action. I confirmed action, it removed the item, and 8 hp from the boss.
None of my characters had empty inventory space either.
I was playing coop with 1 friend
The good news is that you don't actually need them at all. They help, yes. But it's entirely winnable even on +2 without them.
I would appreciate some advice... I finished it in the TT but my party composition included certain character that could routinely consume all the dark element. With the current party (Cthulhu, Sun, Music Note, Circles) I am struggling...
I cleaned the previous rooms easily but the set of actions of the Colourless are brutal... particularly the one that summons a sun demon on very low initiative or the one that adds a shield and heals him.... Then he chained invisibility on several rounds... All my characters exhausted when he was at 7HP left :) I understand his inmunity to stun, but being also immune to poison and wound made things really difficult. Any tips?
I think it was fixed in the last patch.
Daniel.
I'm no expert, but that party looks like excellent crowd control and damage mitigation... which sadly does not help in this scenario.
My advice is to avoid the scenario for now and come back when you have at least one single-target killer in the group.
For me, the MVP of that encounter was Scoundrel. Also good... Lightning Bolt of course, and Eclipse. Or Angry Face with Expose.
Spellweaver could also work to drain the elements.
