Sun class level 9 card question - working as intended? (spoilers)
Hello

I think that sunkeeper's level 9 card "Divine intervention" may not be working as intended, for two reasons:

1) When a non-character ally is harmed (a summon or an NPC), the UI doesn't let you choose to redirect the damage to the sunkeeper or not - it's always automatically redirected to her. Which seems to contradict the "may" term in the card

2) It allows further reduction of the damage via items, particularly shield items like "heater shield" or most armors

I am not 100% sure if this is the expected behaviour. Any thoughts?

Awesome card anyway :) Particularly with the sunkeeper in the same party as the Summoner and Beast tyrant :)

It’s expected behavior. If an AI can complete a given action it will do so. Same reason why the AI always uses the optional effects of music note’s cards

Right, only the incorrect notion here is that the AI should decide. The person taking the damage is not the one redirecting the damage, at least if the card is the same as in the physical board game.

The card does not read.

"Whenever any ally suffers damage they may have you take the damage reduced by one instead". It reads

"When any ally suffers damage, you may suffer that damage reduced by one instead"

So it doesn't matter that "If an AI can complete a given action it will do so" as it is not their action to take.

Also I think 2) also shouldn't happen since the card says "suffer damage" which means it should be absolute damage. So should be treated somewhat similarly to retaliate damage or trap damage for example. The original receiver of the damage (if it was not direct damage SHOULD be able to use shield before calculating the damage) and then AFTER that the sunkeeper should be able to take over whatever damage remains (and reduce it by one as per the effect of the card)

It's inconsistent with TT. In TT the Sunkeeper can decide not to take the damage (they MAY redirect) and since they directly "suffer damage" it can't be further reduced.

I kinda quick read the post so I’ll respond again. I agree with 2. This damage should not be mitigable as per the wording on the card. Number 1 I’m still up in the air about. For instance music note has a one time granted shield to party members but she doesn’t get to choose who uses it.

That said, it could just be an unfortunate result of the way the game is coded if she is indeed supposed to be able to choose. Post about it on the discord if you want a real answer I suppose.

I am having a different issue with Divine Intervention. Every time I redirect damage to the Sunkeeper I am unable to click on the receive damage option, and may only continue by choosing a card to burn. 1 dmg.. 11 dmg... it doesn't matter. completely unplayable and very upsetting honestly. Wasted 3 separate gamesattempts playing her with this card when its obviously bugged. I'm surprised no one else has reported this issue. It makes the card useless.

It's currently bugged (after the recent hotfix patch) :(
