If I had to guess, the X reward will come if they wind up doing DLC. Forgotten Circles is kind of slim on content, so X and the solo items would be a nice way to bulk that up. The folks at flaming fowl seem to like working on this game and Isaac has seemed really chill about working on the adaptation, so the big question is if this game sells well enough to justify DLC.
For me, Envelope X was one of the very first PQs I did waayy back as a solo player diving right in, and it sorta shaped a lot my early GH experience; so with hindsight I'm a little sad it won't be fully implemented but based on how arcane and also frustrating it was going through that I can also fully understand the decision.
The second reason makes sense to me, since I remember all the controversy about posting spoilers when the board game first came out. The intent was also something of an easter egg hunt and keeping it unique to the board game remains consistent with that intent.
I do hope they put in something similar in the digital version.
