Thank you for this explanation as this makes total sense. The reason it wasn't giving me the confirm action prompt for the push was because the only direction I could push the enemy would result in it still being adjacent to me.
Man, there is a lot to keep straight in your head while playing this game.
If you are interested you can also google gloomhaven rulebook pdf, which are the rules of the boardgame, just in case you got more questions about how this or that works exactly (movement, push/pull, poison/wound, etc, etc). Or keep asking when you got some questions or need advice, community looks helpful here in this game.
It is, but their is something very satisfying about using a pull/push to shove enemies into traps you need removed. Taking care of 2 issues in one move. Unless you are like me and end up pulling a x2 on the damage before the push resulting in just a dead enemy. xD
I have had that happen! lol
