I suspect what might be happening with losing levels is that when you lose in a Journey you get your xp reset to whatever it was at the start of the Journey. Although the durability of your items goes down still, which is a bad feature---we should either keep all xp, gold, durability progress or lose all of it.
or a bug??
Is this patch live yet? This happened to me yesterday, so I may be giving unnecessary information if it is already fixed.
"To find the Open Beta version of the game, right click on Gloomhaven in your Steam library and select properties and go to the betas tab. You should see the Open Beta build included in that dropdown list.
You can copy your save file over to the Open Beta branch if you want to resume your current progress. You’ll find your normal save files for Gloomhaven in the following folder: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\LocalLow\FlamingFowlStudios\Gloomhaven\ - you may need to enable hidden items to view this folder. You simply need to copy the core.dat file from the GloomSaves folder to the GloomSavesOpenBeta folder (this will be created after you first launch the open beta build). Assuming there are no major problems with the beta build, this will be pushed to the normal version of the game early next week and you can copy your save file back if you want to keep your progression again. "
This is NOT OK, perks / levels / gear should never, ever be lost - for any reason. Sure, maybe reset xp to the start of that particular adventure, but I'm not even sure that should happen. If doesn't in the BG, why should it apply here?
To have not only this morning play time utterly wasted but last night's too, no thanks.
There's one thing I want from a game dev, and that's to respect my time I spend playing.
First impressions so far are not good, and I was so looking forward to this.
