... is by far the most frustrating. I can go eight matches without generating a time gem. How are you supposed to play? More often than not when I die there is no time gem on the map anywhere.

"BLAZING SPEED" - no literally, you need to play fast. If you match fast enough you get a blazing speed bonus, which causes your gems to cause explosions when matched, this is in the "how to play".

Thanks, I will give that a try.

Darn, lower scores than before, and I even got one ten-chain match. Focusing on speed takes my focus off of the time gems, and I only get two or three waves, unlike the six or seven I was getting before.
I'll keep trying though.

i know someone else already answered your question but im just gonna give you some personal advice
i basically just play a lot of zen mode because that way i memorize patterns way easier and i can recognise them faster so that's pretty much the trick
memorise the patterns so you can be fast and then yeah you keep on going that way until you get high scores you're satisfied with
