When are we going to see a Bejeweled 4!?
Just Curious, This has been a Great game for years, and Bejeweled Twist is cool and all but I would love to see a Modern Take on Bejeweled with Zen modes and other Modes like this one has.

I personally would love the idea. However, it would seem that after the sale of the franchise away from PopCap and over to EA, I would wager the possibility may be slim for one reason and one reason alone. Money/Profits.

Back in the day you could buy a game like Bejeweled as a standalone game, after purchase you buy it and own it and play to your heart's content; nowadays more and more companies are moving towards a "games as a service" business model (and EA freaking loves this concept)... which means they of course want to be able to monatize games in practical perpetuity and milk every single penny they can out of their IP. Given this fact, they pushed out a "new" Bejeweled on mobile (I think it was called Bejeweled Stars if I recall correctly) and basically it's sold on mobile devices, iPad, and so on, with packages to buy credits to unlock things, do special moves, or get extra things and such. Sadly, microtransactions remain the direction that so many developers are taking in efforts to please their shareholders and ultimately maximize profits. More and more games that used to be standalone and now taking on this approach. Examples of such disasters are Destiny, Mad Max, Battlefront the list goes on and on.

Bejeweled was and is an awesome game in its original early incarnations. However, EA isn't nor do I think or believe they ever will be - interested in publishing a standalone game again let alone say one where there could be expansions of some sort offered as a one time purchase until the next big installement of the game. Things have changed significantly in the gaming industry and games such as this which serve within the repetivive/relaxing "timewaster" genre will only be reincarnated or expanded if they can serve as a money making machine to the developer so long as such a game can somehow be designed using a microtransaction based structure. A sad fact, but the truth and reality of where the industry is. So as much as I'd love #4, I'm not willing to pay to download such a game and then also have a pay to win or pay to play style structure never really owning the game in full, or at least where I can't beat it without having to pay at some point or points to accomplish such a goal. As for what others are willing to do/pay, YMMV... and that's precisely why this model exists.

But hey, if they wanna actually create a standalone edition that has zero microtransactions and some legitimately new playstyles/concepts/difficulty, I'd be down to buy it, but once and once alone.

Bejeweled Stars is actually very good Bejeweled game on mobile devices. I only paid couple of euros to buy something to remove ads and I have never spent more money. The biggest problem is that you have to wait some hours if you run out of lives but the same thing is with most of the other free mobile games. But it is a gret time waster game if you need to wait something for 15 - 30 minutes.

EA can go die in a fire.
