Scavenger SV-4

Scavenger SV-4

Anti-virus software mistaking the .exe for a virus...
First off, I know how to fix this; just add exceptions for the Scavenger SV-4 folders in the steam directory. However, I still wanted to make you aware of this problem.

Twice now, each on a different computer (I have a gaming laptop and a gaming desktop), my anti-virus software (which is the same on both computers, with it being Symantec) has automatically deleted the primary .exe for Scavenger SV-4, claiming it was a virus of some sort. This wasn't happening prior to the most recent update. This might be an isolated issue where only people with Symantec get it, but regardless, I figured it was safer to go ahead and notify you anyway.

Note that after re-aquiring the file both times, it has not happened again (yet).

Also, a slightly unrelated but odd bug (again might be isolated): The game un-installed itself automatically from steam on my laptop. I re-installed it without any issues. Not sure what caused it though.

I've done some reuploads with v1.05c tinkering with meaningless changes to the executables to reduce the number of AV false positives the files get. This problem should be somewhat improved at present, it looks like only Cylance is still throwing a false positive now, at least via the testing I am able to do.

Microsoft Security Essentials is detecting Magrathea.exe in the resources/worlds/ folder to be a trojan as well.

RitterZero - could you verify for me that you are on build ID 2651673?

If you rightclick Scavenger SV-4 in your game list, hit Properties, then check the Local Files tab, it should be at the bottom of that window.

I ask because I know Microsoft Security Essentials was flagging a previous version, but last time I checked virustotal.com with the 2651673 magrathea.exe it didn't generate a microsoft alert... I'm wondering if I'm up against a moving target here, in which case, even my approach of making meaningless changes until I happen to roll the dice right won't necessarily mean it *continues* to like that file.

Just to apologetically show I'm not trying to ignore the problem -

https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/f419687c62c62b92cd07ffba12eecc140cc519e2a420aa684f716b2e32dd13f9/detection is the report I get for the current 2651673 executable, 471k, with only Cylance showing red, so that's the view I've got.

If you're on 2651673 and getting a flag from MSE on it, that's good (if frustrating) to know and I appreciate the heads up.

FYI, v1.06 uses the same v1.05 magrathea.exe because there's such an antivirus false-positive cost in altering it.
